Incredible sandwich. Great balls, killer sauce, perfect bread and a 10/10 cheese pull. All around excellent experience, I will be back.

I feel bad because I went there two minutes before closing just to get two drinks, but they were so nice about it. Definitely a 5-star experience. I’ve been there many times before and had their sandwiches, and if I were to compare their sandwiches to Subway, I’d give Subway 0 stars and La Grotta Del Formaggio 5 stars—more if I could. Keep up the good work all of you.

I love getting sandwiches here. It’s been one of my favourite places since I moved to Vancouver. However, the staff are always incredibly stressed. Just went in for a late afternoon bite and the two staff making sandwiches were bickering in front of customers. And while there was only 1 person in front of me in line, it took 10 minutes for the lead lady to acknowledge me even though I was standing in front of her the whole time. I left after 15 minutes of waiting for the lack of service…luckily Cafe Calabria next door also has really good sandwiches, so I still got to eat! I think Grotta would benefit from having staff that reflect the place better

One of the better sandwiches I've had. I usually don't like toasted sandwiches but this one was toasty without doing any damage to my gums. Highly recommend. This is their large sandwich.

A staple to the Drive, I always thought this was just a cheese shop. But in reality, it's a place that you can grab some truly epic sandwiches.

Head into the back to place your order. We got the Classico and it was seriously stuffed. Had to unhinge my jaw just to eat it.

While you're waiting, peruse some of the items on the wall like the small Italian candies that we love getting here.

This is without a doubt one of my favorite sandwich shops in the lower mainland. I come here often and the service is generally great, however, the sandwiches often take awhile to make. Today, I decided to do a pick-up order on UberEats so I wouldn't have to wait as long, but was met with an unpleasant experience; where the cashier was rude to me the moment I walked in. All I did was ask if my pick-up order was ready. I understand cashiers often have to deal with impolite Uber Drivers, but I was very respectful from the very beginning. She refused to give me a time estimate nor even a confirmation that my order was received. This cashier seemed frustrated at the prospect of having to walk down the stairs to check, even muttering swear words under her breath which completely shocked me. Again, the food and service is generally great, however, this sole experience has altered my willingness to recommend this place.

I'm sorry that the information DoorDash provided me was inaccurate. I have the text and in-app chat messages from DoorDash where they clearly state the restaurant cancelled the order, not the DoorDasher.

When I asked why the order was confirmed earlier in the morning only to be cancelled during the delivery time, they indicated that it's likely because it was too busy at the restaurant or the restaurant was unable to fill some of the items in the order. I've updated my review.

Unfortunately, I didn't see your response until today. And, someone from DoorDash called me 1.5 hours after the order was supposed to be delivered. By that time, I had already made other arrangements.

I ordered 15 sandwiches a day in advance. They confirmed the order in the morning, then cancelled it when the driver went to pick it up. What a huge disappointment. I will never shop at this place again.

I was in recently to restock on stravecchio cheese which we had purchased a few months earlier. Delicious if you've not tried it.
Gray, the cheese guy, was super helpful. I wanted to try a few others cheeses, one that was like an aged cheddar but wasn't. His recommendations were spot on and we shared the cheeses with friends. And while it was a busy afternoon, he helped me at the cash too.

This was my first time at La Grotto. The store was beautiful, the staff friendly, and the choices enticing. I rated this a 3/5 star as the panini sandwich was fine but not more than that. For the higher price compared to other restaurants, I expected a much more memorable sandwich. I'm hesitant to say it was good - the bread was tasty and fresh, but the rest was mediocre. I tried the Cotto and Francese. If you're looking for a delicious deli sandwich, I'd suggest seeing what else is available around Vancouver. I also had the cannoli - this was incredibly tasty and an item I'd recommend trying if you're already at La Grotto.
