If you’re a sandwich connoisseur, in particular Italian deli style I don’t think it gets better than La Grotta in Vancouver. It’s tough for a sandwich to really stand out sometimes but this place just does it right. It’s been flying under the radar for a little while but it’s been getting the coverage and love that it deserves. The meat, veggies and bread here all simply phenomenal. You can’t go wrong, stop by and see for yourself!

I came in 20 min before closing, and the wonderful counter staff meticulously sliced the thinnest cold cuts… just excellent service. Thank you.

Best sandwich in Vancouver. They can sometimes take quite a while to get to your order though but it’s worth it. Love the Italian soda choices too

A destination deli and cheese specialty store in the heart of Little Italy. The perfect place to get a delicious freshly made sandwich. Plenty of great treats for your next charcuterie board, too!

Very cool place. The service was great, and the food was superb. Staff who I think were the owners were very nice. Definitely will be returning. One tiny issue, though, was they only accepted cash. What do you expect in little Italy. ?

《 ? ABSOLUTELY LOADED PANINIS ? 》
- full focaccia classico panino = $22.99 -
I don't know how it's taken me this long to hear about La Grotta del Formaggio, but I'm so happy I did.
My wife and I were looking for somewhere to go along Commercial Drive and found some amazing reviews for this bustling deli. When the line is that long, it usually means that there's something good inside! ?
We went straight to the back and got ready to order, but there were so many choices. We went with a full focaccia panino and split it. You can build your own sandwich, but we just went with the classico.
It can get pretty busy around lunch time, so be prepared, but it's definitely worth the wait! ✌️

Great spot for authentic Italian deli. A friend suggested this place for Italian sandwiches. Ordered the picante sandwich, it had a nice kick to it. Friends tried the classic and the belle, they really liked their sandwiches too.

Very good Italian-style sandwiches marred only by dry bread, and a long wait time. Old school European-style slow prep pace, I suppose. This was fine, as I was in no rush anyway, but I wish the bread was fresher.

This place needs to introduction, it's great. A recent find though that I wanted to highlight is café crema. If you know, you know. Yum!
