WE chose Darios for our anniversary celebration. On a SAturday night it was pretty quiet and the ambience was a fresh change. The service however was dispassionate, and the meal took at least 25 minutes to arrive. Risoto which is not made to order and a simple pasta dish. It felt like the waiter was burned out and we were his millionth customer that day. Risoto a little bit on the salty side. Company was great, but I would not be rushing back there.

It’s with a heavy heart that I write this review. My husband and I have celebrated occasions at La Piazza Dario over the years with excitement. It was the pearl of Italian food in the lower mainland.
This summer when we visited the food was shocking.
First of all, it’s impossible to be more scant with the tapenade they bring out with the bread and oil. 1/8 teaspoon per person is not enough tapenade and it was full of tiny pits, chewing was scary. Worst of all the oil didn’t taste or look like olive oil and tasted stale.
We thought this might be a one-off, but it kept getting worse. Cheap portions, flavourless food, overcooked pasta, and vinegary-wine dominated the evening. As the night progressed I gazed upon the empty dining room crowded with dated ugly decor, and suffered through the terrible bland food, and I grew angry.
As an Italian, I am offended by this shameful representation of my culture (at the Italian Cultural Centre of all places!). I have had better Italian food at Olive Garden than La Piazza Dario.
Lidia and management, I truly hope you make some improvements. Your dining room is empty and your restaurant in dire need of resuscitation.

The risotto looked and tasted worst than wall plaster, the meatballs felt like they were frozen 0 taste. The Ragú was tasteless too. We came here after a long drive, we love Italian food and have been to most local places but no joke, if I could I would rate Dario’s pasta 0.
We will never go back again.

Been a while since we've been to Darios as we live an hour away now. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary so we made the trip and it was totally worth it I wanted top notch Italian food in a quiet fine dining restaurant with table cloths and excellent service and that's exactly what we got. I had ceasar salad and fruiti de mari and my husband had stratetelli soup and cannelloni and we shared canoli for dessert. Each dish was phenomenal and the service was impeccable. The prices are better than most noisy restaurants with mediocre food and service. We're so happy we went and we will be back!

Went for a family occasion: overall, a disappointing yet expensive experience. One of our dishes was terrible - despite calling this out to the server, there was no apology or attempt to re-do.
Service was lacklustre and apathetic. Feels like this restaurant needs a re-think/redo. Old school Italian eateries have fine service and foods as their foundation, and this foundation seems to be shaky. Hopefully they will improve soon.
