This place rocks - highly recommend
Don’t miss their onigiri if you’re nearby. The seaweed was a little soft, but the fillings were super generous. I liked the salmon and mentaiko the most.
They have Onigiri with reasonable price 🤤
Wanted to go to the shop near Vancouver City Hall, they are here too😁
We waited 40 mins after ordering and when we asked why 5 other tables that arrived after us got their food before ours the waiter said there was a big uber order. ..no apologies or anything .. When we asked how much longer, he said maybe another 10 mins... we just got up and left.. Would leave zero stars if google allows it.
The staff were very friendly and attentive, consistently checking in to see if we needed anything. The onigiri had good seasoning—especially the beef, which was on the sweeter side, and the takowasa, which had a nice kick of flavor. The nori, however, was a bit too stiff. We also tried the original ramen, which was quite watery at first. Thankfully, you can adjust the flavor by adding shio or shoyu sauce to your liking, which helped bring it to life. I still miss the old Marutama flavor, but today's Maruhachi was still a good experience.
Uni onigiri was so great!
I’d say definitely one of the better ramen shop in town. Great broth and high quality gourmet style noodles. Price is ok as well. Solid choice!
this maruhatchi location has the same options you know and love as the usual, plus more - onigiri and other things. i didn’t try them as i wanted my usual, but it’s a nice option.
it was later in the day so it wasn’t busy at all, maybe 2 other tables seated
there are only a few parking spots but luckily we got one right away
Good taste

This used to be my go-to spot whenever I had a ramen craving, but I would never come back again. The service is slow and frustrating and the quality of food has declined . There are so many good ramen options on Main, so there’s no reason to bother coming here.
Food: I ordered the spicy ramen. Although I can handle spicy food well, this ramen had no flavor—the spiciness was overwhelming and made it taste bitter. I told the server the soup was too spicy and hoped they could remake it, as it was inedible.
Service: The interaction with the server was very frustrating. The only option she offered was to order extra noodles and extra soup, both with additional charges. I ended up getting the extra soup, but by then, the noodles were already soaked in the overly spicy broth and soggy. I wish the service had been more attentive and understanding of customer needs. I left without eating but still had to pay for the extra soup 😟

Maruhachi GAIDEN serves authentic Japanese ramen and curry rice. My daughter especially loves the curry rice—it’s one of her favorites. The restaurant has parking space right in front, making it super convenient, especially for families with kids. It’s a great spot for both lunch and dinner, and it’s close to a coffee shop where you can grab a takeaway coffee afterward. This has become a place we frequently visit, and it’s always a great experience!

I ordered the chicken pork-curry bowl. The chicken was crispy with a spicy pork curry and rice. The bowl was medium sized. I would’ve liked a bigger bowl since I paid about 24$ for it. Restaurant is pricy. The food itself was not bad. I liked the texture of the chicken and the spice of the curry. However, the curry was a bit thick. I would’ve liked it thinner. More seasoning on the chicken would’ve been great.
The service was excellent. The guy working there was very considerate of my preferences and if my food was okay. Got me water when I didn’t even ask. Good service. A lady also got me a bin for my bag.
The atmosphere however was average. I don’t think they had any music and the place was quite empty, only 2 other tables were occupied except for mine.
Overall, I think the menu is expensive, and the chicken curry bowl I ordered was average. I paid 27$ in total which included tips. The service though was excellent. Atmosphere is okay.
