This used to be my go-to spot whenever I had a ramen craving, but I would never come back again. The service is slow and frustrating and the quality of food has declined . There are so many good ramen options on Main, so there’s no reason to bother coming here.

Food: I ordered the spicy ramen. Although I can handle spicy food well, this ramen had no flavor—the spiciness was overwhelming and made it taste bitter. I told the server the soup was too spicy and hoped they could remake it, as it was inedible.

Service: The interaction with the server was very frustrating. The only option she offered was to order extra noodles and extra soup, both with additional charges. I ended up getting the extra soup, but by then, the noodles were already soaked in the overly spicy broth and soggy. I wish the service had been more attentive and understanding of customer needs. I left without eating but still had to pay for the extra soup 😟

Maruhachi GAIDEN serves authentic Japanese ramen and curry rice. My daughter especially loves the curry rice—it’s one of her favorites. The restaurant has parking space right in front, making it super convenient, especially for families with kids. It’s a great spot for both lunch and dinner, and it’s close to a coffee shop where you can grab a takeaway coffee afterward. This has become a place we frequently visit, and it’s always a great experience!

I ordered the chicken pork-curry bowl. The chicken was crispy with a spicy pork curry and rice. The bowl was medium sized. I would’ve liked a bigger bowl since I paid about 24$ for it. Restaurant is pricy. The food itself was not bad. I liked the texture of the chicken and the spice of the curry. However, the curry was a bit thick. I would’ve liked it thinner. More seasoning on the chicken would’ve been great.

The service was excellent. The guy working there was very considerate of my preferences and if my food was okay. Got me water when I didn’t even ask. Good service. A lady also got me a bin for my bag.

The atmosphere however was average. I don’t think they had any music and the place was quite empty, only 2 other tables were occupied except for mine.

Overall, I think the menu is expensive, and the chicken curry bowl I ordered was average. I paid 27$ in total which included tips. The service though was excellent. Atmosphere is okay.

The chicken ramen had a thick and smooth broth, I found myself feeling really thirsty after finishing it. The portion of chicken was also a bit disappointing—only small pieces, which didn’t seem like enough given the price. For what they charge, I’d expect larger portions of chicken.

On the other hand, the cha shu ramen was great. It came with a few large pieces of pork, and it was well worth the price. However, one issue I noticed was that the pork slices were so big that they hung over the bowl, and when the server brought it out from the kitchen, their hands seemed to touch the meat. That’s definitely something they should work on, as it didn’t feel very hygienic.

Overall, there are some good things here, but they could improve both portion size and food handling.

I ordered the same type of ramen as my friend and we both got bad stomach ache/food poisoning from eating it. The food is unhygienic, I suspect it’s the chashu because it was cold and not soaked in the broth. Very disappointed because the taste was pretty decent.

One of the better places to get your chicken (tori) broth ramen around town. Their other ramen and tsukemen are Ver good as well. Staff are very courteous and helpful. Only 3 parking stalls, so if you are visiting, mostly you have to park at nearby street parking. Credit and Debit transactions only.

Went for a quick spot to eat. They have parking in front of their entrance from the back.

The kids enjoyed the shoyu ramen with their kaedama and extra broth. The broth was mild and creamy, which gives the consumer the option to add in more flavors later. The egg was cooked to a good medium-soft boil.
Tsukemen noodles were cooked well, and the broth was more on the salty side for V. The experience is a positive one nonetheless. Our family with 3 young kids ate enough for $50.

I got very little soup in my ramen, and it would cost extra to ask for more soup..??? Very different from their other location.
