I celebrated my birthday breakfast at Maxine's, my second time dining for breakfast. I enjoyed the delicious food, attentive customer service, the lively atmosphere. The prices of the dishes reflect the quality of ingredients. Definitely make a reservation, as it's a popular restaurant. Parking is street parking, good luck if you're driving to find a free spot.

Our previous two visits featured impeccable service so we were very disappointed this time with a waitress who was very personable but obviously needed training in table service. I ordered a second glass of wine but she forgot and it came much later in the meal than I would have preferred. We ordered from the sharing menu but it took a long time for the last two dishes to come and the scallops should have been served earlier than the meatballs. She asked if we were finished (when we were) but then avoided us for a long time before coming back and again asking us if we were finished. We could have been more aggressive about the service but had expected this to come as second nature given our previous visits.

Food was good and nice environment, however we didn't feel welcome when the hostess canceled our reservation in front of us and said next time we need to book 45 minutes ahead. The restaurant was empty by then. Server was very kind and helpful accommodating the stroller.

My cappuccino was lukewarm, my friend's bread had mold on the crust and the potato pancakes had a fishy taste. Service was excellent and the ambience was lovely. And the cookie for dessert was delicious.

We were a party of seven, celebrating Thanksgiving. The shares - pork belly and barrata - were beautifully prepared. Pork was flavorful, not over roasted and delicious. The barratta (two orders of half burrata) were fresh and appealing to the eye and taste buds. Everyone enjoyed their cocktails. The spicy Margherita was memorably large and good. I had the flat iron steak which was tender and paired well with the bone marrow and creamy mashed potatoes. The chicken recipe has changed recently and was delicious, plated with a a beautiful cassoulet. The burgers, the tuna, the cod were all enjoyed. Portions were just right. Our server was attentive with the right balance of friendly and interested. Definitely good value and warm bistro experience.

Ordered the burger off the brunch menu where it was described as a smash patty with cheddar cheese, iceberg lettuce & frites. What I got was a breakfast sausage patty with house sauce and a hash brown type potato in the side. The taste was fine but when I asked they indicated the item had just changed in the past few days but my server did not make me aware of this. Disappointing.
