excellent iced coffee and food
Great service that was quick, friendly and attentive. Not your typical Vietnamese restaurant as the choices are more broad. Ingredients were fresh and all the flavours of each dish was unique but complimentary. The mango salad with dried shrimp was especially good and I really enjoyed the strong dill and scallion flavours infused into the fish seasoned with Tumeric…just not sure what the white flaky fish was, but likely bass fillet.
A very nice place for vietnam noodles. The chicken noodle soup was very good. There is was lots of meat and vegetables. The salad rolls were very good too. Tumeric fish is very tasty.
Disappointed now that they are only Vegetarian.
Why do vegans have to force their lifestyle on others that do not want to be vegan? It is good to have a choice on the menu. Some vegetarian dishes are fine on the menu with meat too. There is another restaurant nearby called Hanoi Old Quarter.
Mr Red closes too early.
Excellent restaurant! Tastiest Vietnamese food in Vancouver! Love the spring rolls and mango salad
I loved this place and had a great service before. I wasn’t around for a while and wanted to try their newer version. On the website and on their door they supposed to be open but a guy who was sleeping on one of the bench inside opened the door and said they’re not open another 10 min and shut the door to my face. It was cold and rainy outside so it would’ve been kind thing to do at least let me sit at a table instead of standing me outside. For that reason im giving 2 stars. The gentleman who served me before many times was very kind and attentive.
We recently visited two Vietnamese restaurants in Kitsilano, Mr. Red Cafe and Hanoi Old Quarter, both on W Broadway, a few blocks apart.
The food was far superior at Mr. Red Cafe.
Highly recommend the Fried Crab and Pork Spring Roll Appetizer. Delicious with good sized portions, plenty enough to share.
We were big fans of their previous Hastings location and Hanoi Old Quarter on Victoria.
Unfortunately, the location on West Broadway is pricey (Anh and Chi pricing) and the food quality is sub par and does not compare to the old locations. Rent on West Broadway is probably quite a bit more than the other locations, but the quality of the food doesn't justify the high prices. The beef pho was average at best for $21, and the bun cha was $25, slices of pork belly were dry and flavourless, the nuoc cham sauce was bland as well.
You can find much better quality Viet food along Kingsway and Victoria Drive for cheaper prices.
Unfortunately the food was just okay.
We have been here in the past and it was much better, maybe the kitchen was having an off day.
Spring rolls were really greasy and our pho was rather tasteless. We always look forward to having the soup as the broth is usually on point, but not lately.
Service was impeccable, as always. Not very clean, I hate to say.
It’s just overpriced. Quality and quantity don’t worth their prices. $21 for a small pho, you can find much better places in Vancouver. Service wasn’t bad but cold.
It's ok.... Not sure what to recommend

Please bring back the Happy Veggie World lemongrass “chikn”. It’s soooo much better than whatever new brand of chickn you’ve got. Also the Bahn Mi is extremely dry… and needs something like veganaise (mayo) on it.
I also got the Spicy Noodle Soup and the Broth was very flavourless and missing enoki mushrooms and the vegan ham (it’s on the menu). Broth tastes like water. It was way better in the past and is why I came back, but not sure if I’ll come back now. Noodles are spaghetti noodles. Not vermicelli which is what menu says.
The food here is disappointing. It used to be good at the Hastings location. I’m not sure if the chef has changed or is on holiday but based on the other reviews it seems it’s going downhill. I wouldn’t recommend coming here if you’re looking for more authentic Vietnamese food. At this time I was served a char burnt sunny side egg with my order of beef rice. How on earth you char burn a sunny side egg Is a mystery to me. I really can’t see how one could spend that sort $ and not expect the food to be of a certain standard.
Very good vegetarian restaurant. The taste was just right. The dishes turn out to be better than expected. Will be back again.
I didn't like much the food and I found it expensive for the quantity. 22 dollars for this...
My wife has been vegetarian for 50+ years so she was keen to check this place out. I was quite pleasantly surprised with just how good everything was. We will definitely go back again...
