First time there, the Chefs and waiters welcomed us like family. I Recommend this place as a first experience or experienced sushi lovers. By far the grandest place to enjoy and to be fulfilled by raw fish experience.
Oku Izakaya in Gastown feels like stepping into a little corner of Japan. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted warmly in true traditional style, which sets the tone right away. The menu sticks to authentic Japanese dishes, no Philadelphia rolls or Westernized fillers, which is honestly refreshing. The sashimi was the star: fresh, thick cuts, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The whole experience felt genuine and well executed. I’d absolutely go back.
Don’t hesitate, you won’t regret eating here. Every dish I tried was carefully crafted and delicious, the drinks are creative and delicious. The quality of the ingredients is top tier. And each of the team members are kind, caring and attentive. It’s such a wonderful atmosphere, you can’t help but smile. 10/10 recommend
