Love this place, run by a lovely husband-and-wife team.
The oysters are always fresh and delicious — we ended up ordering two rounds of the same dishes.

Highly recommend the shrimp combo and fries.
Amazing value for the quality of food and warm services.

Would love to see more wine options in the future.

The service was great. The oyster was fresh. The owner is very knowledgeable about oysters and was nice to talk to.

Surprisingly there is a nice oyster bar in Chinatown! Happy hour time is 4pm to 7pm! Oysters are very fresh! I also recommend their fried oysters!

Came in with my wife and our four little kids, fully aware it’s a small place and politely said we’d eat very quickly. There was literally one empty table with seats. We were told “no table is available.”

We then offered to stand and eat at a side bar table — also empty — but apparently it was spiritually occupied.

Finally, we said no problem, we’ll just do takeout. Surprise! No takeout options either.

The only explanation I can think of is that this place is either allergic to customers or a bit snobby and simply doesn’t cater to those with children

So to summarize: empty tables, hungry family, zero options. We left without eating, but at least learned this is a restaurant where food exists only under very specific philosophical conditions.

Disappointing experience, especially with kids.

The best place we’ve ever been to for oysters, conversation and service - every time we come to Vancouver this is a MUST

When in Rome, do as the Romans do. Of course, coming to the West coast, I'd have to try their specialities.
I was brought here as it was a favourite spot and it did not disappoint. It is a cute quaint spot for intimate gatherings.
The service was incredibly friendly and speedy as far as shucking can go. We enjoyed our yam fries while we waited.
When they did arrive, the oysters were shucked cleanly with lots of brine still inside. 👌🏻
Classic sauces were provided: mignonette, seafood sauce, Tabasco, horseradish, and their homemade pepper infused vodka. Highly recommend the vodka sauce if you can tolerate spice.

Cortes Island is has a classic west coast melon finish. Very easy to finish in one bite. Sunseeker, even tho being on the west coast, was creamy and very clean tasting. If you're used to east coast oysters, you would enjoy the Sunseeker. It is a two biter, so very satisfying!
The favourite out of the 3 was definitely Sand Dunes coming from PEI. The salty brine, 1 bite, clean taste, and sweet oyster is the reason why I keep coming back to eat these delicacies.

Thanks to Oyster Express for the amazing experience!

Best oysters I have ever had, even if the service was a bit slow. Although I love the black Keys they aren't the best dinner music but will be going back for sure

Super legit. I don’t understand how for the quality and price they offer, I was the only one in the restaurant. Seriously, no one wants to eat crazy good fresh seafood on a Friday night?

Come here. This is what going out for a great meal should look like.

I was excited to finally find and enjoy my visit to Oyster Express in Downtown Vancouver's Chinatown area. A small location that offers many shucked local and imported oysters from noted farms. I have to rave on the fried oysters, they were the best I had in decades. This oyster bar has been owned and operated since 2012 by a husband and wife team that cares and works on the service and quality of what they offer. The craft beer and wines offer pair great with the food offerings. There is limited seating and only pay street parking in area but it is definitely worth it. Recommended!

The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious — even though I’m not an expert, I really enjoyed them! My favourites were the Shigoku and the ones from PEI, but honestly, every variety we tried was great. Definitely coming back again!
