I was excited to finally find and enjoy my visit to Oyster Express in Downtown Vancouver's Chinatown area. A small location that offers many shucked local and imported oysters from noted farms. I have to rave on the fried oysters, they were the best I had in decades. This oyster bar has been owned and operated since 2012 by a husband and wife team that cares and works on the service and quality of what they offer. The craft beer and wines offer pair great with the food offerings. There is limited seating and only pay street parking in area but it is definitely worth it. Recommended!

The oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious — even though I’m not an expert, I really enjoyed them! My favourites were the Shigoku and the ones from PEI, but honestly, every variety we tried was great. Definitely coming back again!

We absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I come here often — it’s always cozy, with nice quiet music and super friendly staff. They have the best fries I’ve ever had, amazing chicken wings, and the oysters are just insanely delicious. Definitely one of our favorite spots in town!

I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for some fresh oysters. We arrived just as it opened. The staff was very happy to see us and made us feel comfortable. We had two dozen raw oysters and a couple plates of the fried oysters. For the raw we had a combination of the Cortes Island oysters that were on special, the Sunseekers, Effingham and Useless Inlet. All of them were fresh and delicious! I particularly liked the Sunseekers. They were so big I had to eat them in 3 bites. They were creamy almost. They had some fresh ground horseradish that we added to the cocktail sauce that was good. They also had a vodka sauce that had a bunch of peppers in it that was really tasty.
We had a very disappointing experience at Oyster Express. After leaving our name, we politely asked the host a couple of times about the wait time. At first, he said it would be at least 30 minutes. Later, he changed it to at least one hour. Then, instead of being honest and consistent, he contradicted himself again and even told us we were “extremely impatient.”
This was very unprofessional and disrespectful service. Customers deserve clear and honest communication, not shifting stories and rude comments. We were looking forward to trying the food here, but this treatment completely ruined our impression.

Came here for happy hours, restaurant was busy and server told us the wait for the next available table is around 30mins. After sometime we saw people leaving and went back to check if we can be seated. The server was extremely rude and dismissive to us, and said “you guys are impatient and the wait is now an hour”?????
I’ve not seen a service staff to be so unprofessional when we are simply asking how much longer the wait is for the table because it went from originally 30mins to an hour??
