I understand the cost of manufacturing the buns have gone up but at least provide more filling to my chicken bun. I am disappointed with the quantity of fillings. It’s almost like eating a plain bun. In the attached picture I am halfway done eating the bun.

Yum! Best mango cake
I blame my girlfriend for this review. I am a diehard Maxim’s loyalist and so is my family. I kept telling her I don’t really want to try other Asian bakeries, but she suggested that we try this place one weekend morning.
First experience walking in is that it’s very “home-y”, but that’s about it. We bought the pineapple buns, tuna bun, hotdog-cheese bun and wintermelon pastry.
The tuna bun had about enough tuna for an infant, the pineapple buns weren’t sweet at all and quite dry, and the wintermelon pastry was just flaky without much flavor.
Maybe the batches made that day were for an audience with more sensitive tastebuds. I would not recommend it here.

My regular place to get buns and bread. Their sticky rice dumplings is good, too.

This local Chinese bakery store is located on Victoria and east 44 besides the coastal urgent care clinic. They're selling the usual HK style sweet and savory buns and rolls plus all kinds of Chinese specialty food like BBQ, taro, vegan buns , leaf wrapped rice cakes etc. it's now more expensive than before but food quality is good and fresh. Recommended if you are in the area.

This bakery is one of my favorites. The bakery goods are all very good and in these days of pre-diabetic scares, they have cut down on the amount of sugar in their goods. That I've heard from the owner and is very responsible of him. The selection is always great but the only improvement is to not bag them so early in the day. Somehow when you bag them, it appears as though the goods are not fresh and possibly old. No need to do that because most of their goods sell out before the end of day. Another reason I like Pinehouse is the way they miniaturized the popular items. Instead of paying full price for them, you're paying more affordable prices but remind you, they are slightly smaller pieces than in other bakeries. Egg tarts for example or pineapple buns. They're very good and affordable. And bottom line, you don't want to eat so much sugar any ways.
Dietary restrictions: Less sugar used.

Fresh fruit cake was great, light, not too sweet, fruits were all fresh. One of the best Chinese fruit cakes in town. No issues with payment or service - they were happy to hold onto the cake until we were ready to pickup.

Basic asian bakery, quite fresh, and tastyShe double cha.rged us, and luckily, we checked the receipt. May be an honest mistake as we had 35 items, and I think that's typical at these bun shopsThey had an upright freezer of frozen steamed buns ( did not buy any).Got a strange photo bomber in the pics and had to post. I hope he doesn't mind.. I like your pose ?

Best BBQ pork buns in town!
Loved their fruit cake and the Chinese gentleman was so nice. Highly recommended
The flavour is quite good, the filling is substantial, and the bread is sweet. Each type of cake has its unique taste, with no mixed flavours, which reminds me of the taste from my childhood. Moreover, the boss himself is very nice. I like their Swiss roll the most; it's the best I've ever had.
Fruits were not fresh at all. Mangoes were grey and strawberries were shrivelled up. They said it was simply due to oxidation, but that was not true at all. It tasted like it was made a few days ago. The cake was not fresh either. As we cut the cake, there was a fermented smell. Even 1 star is too much. Never again. Save yourself the troubles and go elsewhere!
HORRIBLE. My cousin bought a cake for my aunts birthday and was scammed. We’ve had trouble with this bakery before but my cousin gave them the benefit of the doubt and wanted to support their business BUT no one in our family will be going to this bakery again. He pre ordered the cake a day before and expected a fresh cake when he went to pick it up the next day. When he went to pick up the cake he noticed that the mangos were a little discoloured but the bakery staff reassured him that it was due to oxidation and that it was freshly made. Since the appearance was not up to standard they gave him $10 off. This would’ve been fine if not for the fact that the cake was COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY SPOILED. The diced mangoes inside the cake were grey and soggy AND the cake smelled like spoiled yogurt. My grandpa took one bite, spat it out and told everyone to stop eating it. This was not a freshly made cake and the audacity that they would sell a cake that was at least 4 days old is unbelievable. Stay away from this place because honestly I would give them 0 stars if I could.
