Had lots of fun and the bouncer was super nice. I got nauseous and had to step out they made sure I was feeling okay, a friend tried to go back in to get water he didn't let me back in (understandably) but brought me water instead. Club had very pretty lights very important for a club. All and all I ended up having lots of fun, also writing this review hoping the bouncer will see it (thank you and I'm sorry I don't remember your name)

This place is pretty big. I would recommend this bar since there’s not many options in Vancouver for gay bars. It had a line and cover.

Pumpjack is an absolute joke! They refused giving me a triple tequila sunrise because I didn’t tip them the amount they wanted/expected. I tip based on the service that is provided not because it’s “expected” they were rude as well and spilling all the ice in my drink everywhere! Can’t believe the way I was treated here and I will be contacting cooperate and the BBB an absolutely repulseery of service.

What happened to this place? We used to go here on weekends when leather attire got you to front of the line; music was excellent, varied, retro/avante garde. Bigger bar now but cookie cutter generic

I was here multiple times at different times of day. Always nice varied group of patrons. I liked it each time for a little while. But It's like a big empty warehouse. You can always drink, but not a lot else going on to make you stay. In the afternoon no music or videos on the too small TVs... just American football. Really? And what's w the kino machine?I can't believe they charged $11 cover on a Saturday nite for a DJ! Staff mostly friendly (tho other reviews refute this...and there are enough to make you wonder). And didn't seem to have any other entertainment offerings.. no bingo or drag shows, no underwear/jockstrap night, no sing a longs. And the sound system was way too loud the later it got.

Sadly, this is one of the few gay places in Vancouver - Davie village( Vancouver West end gay village).I am disappointed by many things about PumpJack!First the line up system: despite the fact that the place is mostly quite empty, the management makes you wait for hours to get in, unless you pay extra at the door to skip the line! Everyone knows that this is a thing. It seems is a "sick" way to create an hype so people will think, "oh wow, everyone is going to pumpJack tonight"The dance floor was pretty full while the bar side literally empty, but hundreds of people waiting outside. This is ridiculous!I went to pumpjack in different occasions, during pride celebration, on a regular Saturday or for long weekend, the story was always the same: I lined up for 1h and half but not on a Sunday; then you get in as there is not line up!Also, the guys at the door, despite there is a friendly one, are usually making you feel that they are making you a favour getting you in!The service for me is overall less than the average you will find in a pub that turns into a ""club"".Drinks are all right!Tried on a Sunday afternoon when is mostly populate by more senior dude and not much difference with busy days.Another disappointing factor is about the drug and how people freely can use that on the dance floor with no one from security saying 1thing!I also catched many of the "security" stuff vaping and not calling out other clients when doing the same. The demographic and clientèle is mostly older dude, bear shirtless, sweety and with strong BO. Now, I am not judging that at all, but I think it is worth mentioned what to expect when you go to the PumpJack pub. Then the music: the music/sound system is terrible! Come one, update is a little bit.Does not even get to the point where you hear the basses!(There are worst places, I have to admit, like junction sound music is the worst ever).I honestly try to avoid to bring money there as much as possible and many of other friends do the same try to boycott it especially if I think about the rude stuff I usually run into! Not the bartender which are expecting tips, so a bit nicer, but some random dudes with a really entitled attitude.

I am deeply saddened to write this review. As part of the LGBTQIA community, I have experience a range of discrimination throughout my life but never from my own community. Tonight we were told by staff that Pump Jacks isnt a " hoo ha bar" it's a "bear bar", and made to feel wholey unwelcome. It is extremely disappointing to have been singled out as women for having a good time where men in the same position wouldn't have been approached/ singled out. I would only recommend going to this bar as a gay man, not as ANY other part of the LGBTQIA community.

A great neighborhood bar. A large and varied space with lots of places to sit. Lots of beary guys, and just varied in general, which is a good thing. Sometimes on the weekends they have a DJ where they seem to think people enjoy shouting over the genetic club music. Not my thing, but everyone else seemed to be into it. If you want to opt out there are some tables outside in front or in the back if the weather allows it.
