As a venue managers myself, I approached planning our wedding with a clear understanding of how many moving parts go into a successful event, and how important it is to be able to let go and truly enjoy the day.
Shaughnessy exceeded every expectation. From the stunning setting right on VanDusen Gardens (which made our first look and photos so simple and beautiful), to the convenience of having our ceremony, reception, catering, staff, furniture, and dinnerware all in one place, it was one of the best decisions we made. Not having to juggle a significant number of vendors and timelines took so much stress off our plates and allowed us to be fully present with each other and our guests.
And the food, wow. If you’re considering it, absolutely upgrade to the Short Rib and Sablefish. Our guests are still talking about how incredible everything was.
The service truly set Shaughnessy apart. Carlle was so helpful and organized in the lead-up to the big day, always ready to answer questions and guide us through the planning process. On the day itself, Frank kept things running smoothly behind the scenes, while Terri took such thoughtful and particular care of my husband and I throughout the evening. Every single member of their team was warm, attentive, and professional, we felt genuinely supported from start to finish.
It was, in every sense, the most perfect day. We would choose Shaughnessy again in a heartbeat.
Very relaxed afternoon spending with my mum after some walk in the garden sitting in the patio. Her salmon is done to the perfection and my soft taco is delicious too. Service is good. Nice ambience.
Fabulous server but the food was, again, mediocre. The quality of the pasta and shrimps was good but it really wasn't Primavera as advertised. The only springy thing was barely a fork full of broccolini and a stray piece of pea shell that looked like it had fallen in. There was little taste to the sauce. It wasn't awful but very much nothing to write home about. My husband also didn't think there was nothing interesting to the ribs. Next time I'll have the quiche; that one's always good.
Went there for a wedding, was well done!
Lovely atmosphere, food was not bad, but the inattentive service definitely left a sour note.
Phenomenal staff, water glasses were always full, the servers went above and beyond. The bouillabaisse was made well but it didn't blow me away. The gingersnap cheesecake definitely did though.

My husband and I had our wedding here a month ago.
The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. We hardly needed any of our own décor because the space is so beautiful to begin with. They will give you an excellent brochure with all the information that you need for your special day. The food was also a 10/10. My wedding was over a month ago and I'm still getting people telling me how delicious the food was. We had access to the gardens, but it was raining so we couldn't make use of it, however, we did get some lovely rain shots in front of the restaurant. A stunning location for a soft, cozy vibe with great food.

Enjoyed the warm beets with goat cheese salad. 10/10.
Never had warmed up beets so it was a nice change.
The server we got was also a delight to deal with. Would recommend to friends.
Only thing is the view wasn't what I expected but that's BC I went in November. So not alot of flowers and etc.

Very good ambience setting. Food was quite good (although we gotten some very burnt ends on the kid's plate). There is something for everyone and the ice cream was delicious.
Parking: Free lots in the area available.
Kid-friendliness: Kid's menu available. But they do not carry any plasticware. They do offer smaller glassware for kid's cup

Location is great. Food is elaborated but the combination of flavors of several dishes we had was not to my taste

It's been quite some time since we've circled back to the Shaughnessy restaurant. There are so many different options in Vancouver, so it can be taken for granted that it is always there.
Thankfully, it is still always there, and provides great service and tasty food options for all the various eaters in our large party!
Our Sunday brunch for a large party was great. If I wanted to be extra picky, I would say the soups could use a pinch less salt, fries were a bit heavy handed with the salt (generally people want that though), potatoes and fries were crisped great for me but a bit too crisp for others, and the fish (steelhead) was slightly on the over done side.
Considering the current restaurant environment, this ranks high in satisfaction, is well priced and has no obnoxious tipping expectations. I wanted to tip more 😊.
Thank you.
Kid-friendliness: Fine for kids that don't run around or stuff like that.

After meeting in the Garden Cafe, the closest place we can get food was Shaughnessy Restaurant. We are both eating healthier now, so, no deep fried fish for us. My partner ordered the salmon burger. The fish was very tender and moist, and the burger enjoyable. I requests a full plate consisting of side vegetables like green beans, broccolini, carrots and steamed potatoes with carrot ginger sauce on the side. The server was very accommodating and the kitchen decided to throw in beets but left out the potatoes. The vegetables were delicious, perfectly steamed. The beets were pickled and quite acidic and not roasted as I thought. After a couple of them, I gave up before the acid gives me mouth sores. With vegetables like that, I don't mind coming back for another meal.
