It was our first time here and so I didn't know how this restaurant worked. I scheduled the only res that was available at 2:30pm, which lined up perfectly with when the Festival of Lights started, giving us 1.5hrs to drink/eat. I figured we could take our time, but immediately the waitress was rushing us to order. Not her fault, as she explained the kitchen was about to switch everything over for their dinner service and if we didn't order before 3pm we'd essentially be SOL for food. Had I known, I would have 100% chosen another restaurant in the area. The lack of food options at 230pm.. we both ended up with mediocre cobb salads. That and two glasses of wine came to $90 before tip. We ended up getting out of there well before 1.5hrs, arriving to the Festival of lights wayyy too early, standing around waiting for it to get dark out. Anyway, heads up to anyone who chooses their 230pm res in the future 😐

Excellent food atmosphere and friendly workers. I go to this restaurant quite a bit the only thing I highly recommend is .. new bathroom vanity and plumbing one toilet would not stop flushing and I felt bad wasting all that water! They also need cleaning more frequently maybe a checklist with date and time they were last cleaned. 😊😉

Our team has had the pleasure to DJ many weddings at this wonderful Vancouver venue. The service is always top notch, drinks and food are amazing and staff is friendly. I would highly recommend getting married here or eating here. Mat Vanstone @ - Zapped Productions DJ’s
Absolutely delicious food in a gorgeous setting, next level dining at extremely fair prices!
I never leave reviews, but this place is just such a Gem truly next level from the ambiance of the entry to the lobby to the outdoor dining area to the professional and friendly service. What a wonderful setting it totes the feeling of elegance in fine dining yet Comfort in casual.

Nestled in a stunning garden setting, this restaurant offers a dining experience that’s as memorable for its food as it is for its surroundings. Nature is quite literally part of the ambiance—don’t be surprised if a curious bee or two stops by to say hello. Just consider it part of the open-air charm!
The baby back ribs are the undeniable star of the show—fall-off-the-bone tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. The sauce hits that perfect sweet-savory balance without overwhelming the meat. The mixed green salad was a refreshing counterpoint: crisp, vibrant greens topped with prawns grilled to smoky, tender perfection.
If you’re feeling adventurous, the Spanish coffee is a bold way to end your meal. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart—brandy-forward, aromatic, and warming in every sense.
Between the garden vibes and standout dishes, this place offers a uniquely relaxed, slightly wild (in the best way) dining experience. Bring your appetite—and maybe a little bug spray.

Highly recommend Shaughnessy Restaurant! We got married at Shaughnessy Restaurant and go back every year to celebrate on our anniversary. Had an excellent dinner tonight served by Milan and Terri.
Disappointed to hear the City of Vancouver doesn’t want to renew the lease this year, hopefully it gets sorted out and the legacy of Shaughnessy Restaurant can continue!
This is an amazing restaurant with great staff and delicious food.

I’ve been here twice in the last month and both times have been wonderful…good food, good service and lovely atmosphere. Also, the price is great with 25% off for a member and one guest.

Shaughnessy Restaurant is one of Vancouver’s most beautiful wedding spots, tucked away inside VanDusen Botanical Garden. As Vancouver wedding officiants, we’ve seen many venues and this one stands out for its natural beauty and flexible spaces.
Couples love the variety of options here, including a larger and sheltered patio that’s ideal for wedding ceremonies with more famimy and friends, a smaller patio that works perfectly for intimate gatherings, and a stylish indoor space with large windows looking out over the lush gardens. No matter the size of your celebration, from micro weddings to larger groups, there’s a space that fits beautifully.
Here is another bonus: it’s just right inside VanDusen Botanical Garden which gives couples and guests the chance to enjoy one of Vancouver’s most stunning backdrops before or after their event!

Never left a review on any places even if I absolutely love it or found it to be subpar. I had to do it because of how livid I was with my interaction with the waitress.
Food is good, nothing memorable about it. It was good, but lacking a depth to the flavor. Not worth the price I was paying.
Scenery and atmosphere was nice since we just came from the garden.
Service was okay to start with. It was slower than what we are used to considering it wasn't packed. There were three other tables out on the patio with us. I didn't appreciate that instead of offering a check we were handed a dessert menu and expected to order. When I asked for a check, it took 12 minutes to get the check. I saw her multiple times walking back and forth not doing anything.
Eventually I did pay and I didn't leave any tips digitally. She took the scanner and looked at the amount. Then proceeded to confront me if I meant to not tip her. I haven't even left the table yet and was in the process of gathering my stuff, while my husband was changing our infant in the bathroom. My desire to tip disappeared with the confrontation. She was rude and condescending. Proceeded to tell me to thank her for paying for my lunch.
The combination of okay food and bad service makes it hard for me to really recommend this place.

First time visiting this restaurant for everyone in our group of six. As we walked in we were greeted kindly. It only took about 10 minutes and our table was ready. No reservation. Our server Karen was absolutely amazing!! Knowledgeable about the menu answering all our questions. The food was delicious!! The drinks were refreshing and the deserts were delightful! I would highly recommend this place!

Disappointing Experience – Not Worth the Price
The food here leaves much to be desired. Both the club sandwiches and salads were underwhelming, especially considering the steep prices. Service was equally poor—slow, inattentive, and disengaged. At no point did staff check in or offer anything beyond the bare minimum. Overall, the quality doesn’t match the cost, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I visited this restaurant with my son, hoping for a good experience, but unfortunately, it fell short in several areas. The food was overpriced for the quality, and the service left much to be desired. It took far too long for our food to arrive, and throughout the meal, the staff was inattentive and unengaged—no one checked in to see if we needed anything else. Ironically, the only thing they were quick about was bringing the bill. Overall, it was a disappointing visit, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.
