I had a beautiful dinner here last month, everything I ordered was perfect. I don't drink, but I was able to have a carefully crafted cocktail and a decent non-alcoholic red wine. The friends that I was with did have a couple faux pa's ... the pork shoulder was super over cooked, and the flambe was so boozy it was inedible for them. Having said that, everything I ate was just perfect (hence the 5 stars!), so no complaints from me! I consider myself a major foodie, so...
The initial impression of St Lawrence is not what I expected for a Michelin starred French restaurant. It is small and unpretentious. It is also very busy and bustling. When we arrived we were told that there were no tables and were seated at the bar. Not my initial preference but as we progressed through the 4 course table d'hôte menu we realized that the bar was a perfect place to observe the symphony of cooking and team coordination that was taking place in front of us....
We came for the Cabane à Sucre menu, and it was a bit of a mixed bag. The restaurant is more like a casual bistro. It was packed to the gills with essentially no space between tables, which made for a pretty loud and cramped experience.
