Thank you so much to the server (forgot the name, but she had dark hair and amazing makeup, and had the section in front of the corner window) who served me and my friend last night.

The place was packed, but our server was great and the quality of service was 10/10.

Excited to return again in the near future!

Were pleasantly surprised how good the food was here. The waitress was very helpful and friendly and the drinks were fantastic, although a tad pricey. Would highly recommend.

I went to Cascade on Main Street on Saturday, December 13th, for a date night. The restaurant itself has a lovely, cozy atmosphere, and despite traffic making us a bit late, they held our table and welcomed us warmly... which I appreciated.

One of the reasons I love supporting locally owned restaurants is the service and quality of experience: it’s usually thoughtful, curious, and collaborative. I enjoy when servers are open to questions, share their favourites, and help shape the experience, especially with drinks and food.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case for us. When I asked about drinks, the interaction felt dismissive rather than engaging. A White Negroni was suggested (which I was open to), but there was no follow-up to see if I was enjoying it. When I asked a few questions about the menu, the responses came across as sarcastic, including comments that felt like I was being laughed at rather than helped. For example, when asking about the snapper, the description I received was simply “it’s fishy,” followed by laughter.

I brushed it off in the moment, as it was a date night and I didn’t want to make things uncomfortable, but the interaction stayed with me. It felt surprisingly disrespectful and out of step with the kind of service I usually experience, and expect… at neighbourhood restaurants like this.

I’m sharing this feedback thoughtfully, in hopes that it’s taken as constructive. The space itself has so much potential, and a more attentive, respectful approach to service would make a big difference.

Been in a few times but this was the first in a while.
Decent selection of beers, made better by the fact that 20oz pints are $7 for happy hour and all-day monday.
Had the salt and pepper wings. Pretty run-of-the-mill for $17 (happy hour price).

I struggled with how incredibly loud it was, mainly due to people trying to talk over the music playing and couldn't have a comfortable conversation until about 1/4 of the restaurant emptied out.

Still makes for a good spot to grab a drink and a bite

I usually don’t leave reviews but the food was okay, and the drinks were great. However, I was very disappointed that with the shorter female server with an accent working on Wednesday, Oct.23. I was calculating the tip in my head, and then I asked for change and she told me there was a tip calculator and I should know what the tip should be. I have worked in hospitality so I tipped anyways because I know it can be tough but her overall vibe was not great. I regret leaving the tip.

The Cascade Room isn’t flashy, and it doesn’t pretend to be. There’s no bathroom attendant waiting with a towel, no gimmicks to push it into fine dining. It’s a local restaurant in the best sense, approachable, steady, and rooted in genuine hospitality.

That hospitality comes from the top. Whether Nigel and Karen are visible or not, their standard carries through. The staff treat you with the same graciousness they do themselves. It’s warm without being fussy, attentive without hovering, and consistently welcoming in a way locals trust.

The room reflects that same balance: it gives “deep blue velvet, bamboo, and a long comfortable bar” that grounds the space. In back, red brocade wallpaper nods to British tradition. In season, the street-side patio softens Main Street with planters, variable height tables giving the sense you’ve stepped away from traffic into something more relaxed.

The food seals the deal. Wings with more wing than bone. Sliders that overdeliver. And now, the new lamb shank risotto. While still a test dish, it is rightfully slated to stay in October. The lamb falls into tender ribbons, the risotto lands perfectly al dente, rich, balanced, and bright. Exceptional. A chef’s kiss.

If there’s one refinement, it’s in the glass: the Sauvignon Blanc list could lift to meet the dish’s weight. But Cascade already outpaces its neighbours along this row of delectable options - and is what Main Street dining should be.

Solid Happy Hour menu. Calamari were fantastic, crispy cauliflower was delish, Poutine decadent. Charcuterie was a bit slim. Note that the Prawns Aguachile is swimming in cilantro, though that's not listed on the menu! And the chicken brochettes were a total miss for us - not much flavour but lots of gristle.

Go ahead and try anywhere else on Main if you value hospitality.

We were immediately seated at the bar, the drinks and food were fine. However, as we were closing out, one of us left a cash tip instead of using the card machine, she’s a server herself and understands the value of a direct cash tip. After closing out, we asked for water before leaving and the bartender flat-out refused and said, “No, because she didn’t tip.”

When we tried to explain that a cash tip had been left, along with the rest of our group tipping individually, he cut us off and WALKED AWAY. We were stunned, speechless, and honestly embarrassed over something that could have easily been cleared up with just a little bit of professionalism and courtesy.

The food is incredible. Every time I go the menu switches up, and everything is always top notch. My friend and I always enjoy the happy hour menu and order pretty much everything on it because it's always so darn good. Still dreaming about the calamari...

Came here for a late night snack and drink. The cocktails here were good - the one tap ones were cool! My poutine wasn’t great though. The gravy was strangely thick and chunky. Otherwise the cocktails and beer were good!
