Our family always loved their Chocolate Banana cream pie and we always ordered a whole pie for special occasions . This last time we ordered was such a shock!! Did not taste the same anymore! It was overly sweet and had way too much cream! So very disappointed! Will have to find somewhere else to get my husband’s favorite pie

Sort of strange experience. I was completely ignored for ages. No response despite a couple hi theres Like the cakes so I waited.

Ordered the 9” Diplomat cake for a birthday celebration. The phyllo pastry layer was very dark brown and tasted burnt and the vanilla cake was dry. The butter cream icing was good though. Disappointing for the price.

A slice of cake is $11 and I didn’t even get a full slice. Only a part of outer corners— such a rip off. Never coming back again

They use thickener in their berry sauce and they don’t even care if you know…

I ordered my birthday cake (white Savannah with berry sauce) and while the cake was delicious, the berry sauce was really disappointing. I’m rating this 2 stars because the berry sauce is half the experience of the cake.

They gave a measly 4 oz container, not even full. More than half of it was filled with gelatinous globs. See photos. If you look closely you can see some gritty/starchy texture that you wouldn’t see with a real jam or compote.

I understand it’s common practice for restaurants to cut costs by adding thickeners or substitute ingredients, but the lack of care really shows here. They made a sauce that was this texture, someone still scooped it and served it. Even if that was a day where they had a new person, it just shows there is a lack of training as well.

My parents have been supporting True confections for over 15 years. It’s really disheartening to see the quality go down over the years and this was the last straw. Won’t be supporting again and will encourage others to not either. They’ve been really relying on long term loyal customers like my parents to support them, not anymore!! Not like they care since they don’t reply to reviews anyways.

1/5 Stars - A Tragic Decline: True Confections No Longer Lives Up to Its Name

It is with considerable disappointment that I write this review for True Confections. As a long-time patron, I've observed what appears to be a precipitous decline in the quality of their cakes, particularly since the reported change in ownership or management.

What was once a hallmark of Vancouver's dessert scene, offering consistently exquisite and memorable cakes, now, in my recent experiences, delivers a product that is profoundly underwhelming. I've found the texture of the cakes to be noticeably drier, the flavors less vibrant and distinct, and the overall presentation lacking the meticulous care I previously associated with the establishment. This significant drop in product quality stands in stark contrast to the prices, which, regrettably, remain at a premium level. The value proposition has, in my view, deteriorated dramatically.

For anyone who cherished the True Confections of old, I must caution that the current offering may prove to be a significant letdown. Based on my recent visits and observations, I would personally suggest exploring other dessert options in the city. It's truly disheartening to witness what feels like a beloved institution lose its way so completely.

Ordered a slice of carrot cake and red velvet cake to go last night. Friendly service. Slices were tragically small and at $10 each it was criminally expensive.

Carrot cake was good, red velvet tasted dry and crumbly and we ended up throwing out the remainder. For those prices I would recommend literally anywhere else. Won’t be back.

We ordered a red velvet birthday cake, it was the worst cake we have ever had. The cake it self was old dry crumb, the icing was decent but could not cover for the either poorly baked or very old chocolate cake. I will never order from here again.

I love the strawberry cake and my mom loves the diplomat cake. Sometimes I feel like it could be a little too sweet. The cake is super moist and light. I don’t think you can go wrong ordering any cake from them

The cake is tasty, but I've bought a slice of cake from this location a few times, and I noticed that the size has gotten smaller over time. The first time I bought it, the slice was bigger, but lately it seems like they’ve reduced it almost 1.5 times smaller than what I got before. Honestly, it doesn't feel worth the price anymore. And sometimes the slices have a slight refrigerator taste, as if they're not completely fresh.
