How are you able to provide terrible service when someone is just picking up takeout? I didn't want to just grab the order without saying anything. But the waitress just waved her hand at me, said "there", and turned her back without another word. Won't be coming back for such lackluster service and food.

Did I end up at the wrong place? I will say the service was great, very friendly and attentive without being too much. But there is no atmosphere here, just a room with tables. You can see all the freezers and cleaning equipment at the back. The food was not great. Anything that was charred tasted just like the fuel from the torch, ruined all the other flavours. The “tempura” prawn was obviously from frozen, tasted like a fish finger from a box. Very disappointing given the reviews, it’s misleading.

Sushis were excellent!We took the diner for two which had a chicken donburi perfect for our two little kids. We added a tuna tataki sushi and dragon rolls. They were soooo good, specially the tuna tataki.

What a find!! Nestled amongst a thick patch of non-descript West Broadway concrete buildings with a heavy scent of Japanese curry thick on the air, is this true gem of a Japanese restaurant! I could tell from the clientele and the staff running the joint that I was in for a treat. The service was very warm and friendly and hospitable, and the dishes were very flavourful, colorful, and unique. Take for example the sushi donut! You got to try it for yourself.

I have tried Uma Sushi during one of their private catering dinner event in West Van. I cannot really gauge the atmosphere since I have not been to their physical restaurant. The owner/chef was young, vibrant, and friendly which was good. The food was fresh, flavorful, and had very good presentation. Wasabi they used was gritty, which is good since its fresh.
