Amazing Chicken Katau. Got to top of store, 2nd floor, all the way to the back. Worth it!

There is a hidden Japanese curry stall on the second floor of H Mart on Robson Street and most people have no idea it is there 🍛

This is Zac Zac Japanese Curry, tucked in the back corner of the H Mart food court at 590 Robson Street in downtown Vancouver. It has been here since 2012 and it is still one of the most underrated lunch spots in the city.

Here is what to order 👇

The $20 Deluxe Curry Set:
Panko breaded prawn, pork and potato, all perfectly crispy on the outside. Placed on a generous bed of rice covered in rich Japanese curry sauce. Extra cheese melted on top
Miso soup included. Drink included. For $20 in downtown Vancouver. That value is genuinely hard to beat.

About the curry:
Japanese curry is one of the most beloved dishes in Japan, considered a national dish enjoyed by all. The flavour at Zac Zac hits in three layers, sweet first, then deep umami savouriness, then a gentle spice. Choose mild or regular spice level. Everything is made fresh to order.

💡 Tips before you go:
Go upstairs to the second floor of H Mart, not the grocery floor. Zac Zac is tucked in the back corner of the food court. Order at the counter and pick up when your name is called

Came here for a quick lunch bit and ordered chicken katsu (curry). It was good but not great. The service was okay but it took a bit to get our food and the sitting area didn't feel overly clean. There are other places in the area to get something similar.

Fast, hot, and delicious curry found in a quiet spot above the H-Mart. Great for a craving.

Popped into Zac Zac Japanese Curry House in downtown Vancouver. Their plates had good flavor really tasty but wish they could increase their portions. Service was friendly and straightforward. The atmosphere has a simple vibe. Food and bev were great and the whole visit was okay.

The tonkatsu tasted okay at first, but I noticed that the meat wasnโ€™t properly trimmed, so there was too much fat and connective tissue. It made the texture unpleasant. Also, the oil didnโ€™t seem fresh, which affected the overall taste.

I really enjoy this place. The food is good however for the second time they left an entire item out of a pickup order, only to notice when I arrived back home which is too far to go back. They offer to refund the missing item but overall this is quite inconvenient and not a one time thing.

This place has the best Japanese curry. Iโ€™m always on the hunt for something similar to Cocoโ€™s curry (iykyk) and this may even be better! Go into the hmart, head up the escalator and walk straight past all of the registers. You will see a food court. Tucked at the end of the food court is this hidden gem.
