Found this place doing google search and Im glad I chose this. Food was so tasteful and full of umami. I highly recommend the Hitsumabushi (unagi set). Buttery smooth unagi and the sauce on the rice was so delicious! The yakitori is also good but can get a bit pricey if you order a lot. I will be coming back here more often.

Went there on a Tuesday night and it was busy but no lineup. The waitress didn’t punch in my order until I asked her where my food was after around 30min. She apologized which was good. Even after they were late, the food that came out wasn’t that good. Our medium rare beef was well done and tough. The prices aren’t cheap either. If they gave me food late I thought the chefs would take a bit more time with the food but it was very average.

First time at Zakkushi for dinner while visiting Vancouver, and it was worth the wait of 1.5 hrs!!! Maaya’s sevice is just excellent and very attentive, and her recommendation also made everything we ordered even greater. Highly recommended and will definitely come back!

Food was delicious. Pricey, but I’d be willing to come back and pay again if it wasn’t for the service we received.
When my wife and I arrived, there were only three other tables with patrons. So we expected our food to come within 15-20 mins after ordering.
Now when we placed our order, our waitress asked if we wanted all our food to arrive at the same time. We said “yes,” because we were in a hurry, so we explicitly requested our three mains to arrive together, and our one dessert to arrive after. Our server acknowledged our request and said they’d do it.
But after waiting 30 minutes (and feeling utterly famished), our first dish arrived, alone. We were shocked, but expected our next few dishes to come very shortly after because we were TOLD it would be done. But after waiting another fifteen minutes, there was still no sign of our food.
So after waiting over 45 minutes, we called a waitress and asked when the rest of our food was coming, because we had an appointment later that night we didn’t want to be late for (and we did not expect to be waiting for our food for 45+ minutes). The waitress (who was kind) kindly informed us that our entrees would be ready in 5 minutes. So we thanked her, and asked her to bring our dessert at the SAME TIME because we were in a hurry (a scoop of sesame ice cream and a spray of whipping cream). So she acknowledged our request and said it would be done.
But after five minutes, nothing. Almost 15 minutes later, our two entrees arrive. And when they did, one of our dishes which showed seaweed pictured on the menu came without any seaweed. But even worse? The dessert we requested and were TOLD would arrive with our food wasn’t there. It was at this moment I decided I was never coming back here again.
I had high hopes for this restaurant. We received zero apology or any acknowledgment for their inability to deliver on their word. We had to ask for the dessert AGAIN which took even more waiting, and when we arrived at our next appointment we were 25 minutes late.
Meanwhile, the “table of two” next to us was ordering dozens of items and receiving them five to ten minutes after they’d order. A table of four patrons behind us arrived AFTER we did, ordered, received, and ate all their food, then LEFT before we had even received ours. My wife and I felt utterly neglected, ignored, and overlooked. Not sure how they got their awards.
We were the first few customers arrived the restaurant and placed the order, after our first dish, we waited for almost 1 hour to get the rest of the dishes. The kitchen was too slow. The portion was too small, but the food tasted good.
My new favourite spot. Food was very good and waitresses were super kind.
All of our selections were incredible. Service was great, all round great experience.
This is our first time visiting there, we loved the skewers the service was very friendly. It didn’t took much long for the food to arrive. Overall good food with good ambiance.
The lunch special was a decent deal. The interior is cool, the food is fresh 👌

Has sand in spinach. There was one time I said their food shiokara is super salty they said they don’t care. Asked me to keep eating.
Super authentic food. Very yummy. Reminds me of Japan. Service is friendly. Definitely recommend if you want to try real Izakaya.
Food was delicious 🤤 and real Japanese taste. The services is above average. The space are limited and a bit noisy in the background.
Authentic Japanese izakaya with traditional binchotan charcoal that added a smoky flavour!
From the moment you step in, the cozy ambiance and the aroma of sizzling yakitori skewers transport you straight to the heart of Japan. Their menu boasts a variety of mouth-watering options, but the highlights are undoubtedly the yakitori selections.
Chicken and pork skewers were always grilled to perfection every time I dine at Zakkushi, but somehow the quality of beef skewers were on and off sometimes.
My must-order items are Momo Teriyaki, Cheese Mochi Maki, Norimayo Tsukune and Atsuyaki Tamago
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years, but after dining here yesterday, I was shocked by the changes. The menu has changed, prices have gone up drastically, and portions have gotten smaller. The biggest shock was paying $17 for a tiny piece of Wagyu skewer and I’m not exaggerating. Other skewers are nearly $4 each, which feels overpriced for what you get. That said, the service is still consistent, but overall, it’s not the same value it used to be.
