I placed a substantial order of skewers totaling $124 but was extremely disappointed with the portion size. The dish arrived on a single small plate with minimal servings—barely enough for one person. For this price point, I expected significantly more food. The same amount would have provided enough for three meals at previous restaurants that sell Skewers. Unfortunately, this was not good value for money, and I regret not staying with my usual place.

I went at 6 o'clock, but two of the menu items I ordered were sold out, so I couldn't eat them.
But the rest of the menu I ordered was all delicious!!!
The downside is the parking lot...

I tried to order delivery from ubereats and it took 40 minutes and there was no driver. I went ahead and asked and the system told me the restaurant was closed so the driver cannot come and pick up the food. So why did you accept the order in the first place and didn’t just cancel my order right away?

The store is cozy and cute.
There is only like 4 spots in the plaza that you can park. Parked at a stall which the owner store was closed, and was told by staff to move car away in the heavy rainstorm. ?

The waitress with glasses at the table next to the bar was very rude. She was very intrusive and loud. She obviously didn’t care if you are talking with your friend, during dinner. She didn’t observe for timing, nor did she care that you are talking, she just came suddenly, and yelled for whatever she had to say, for many times during our dinner. We were talking about something important, and she kept interrupting with very rude and loud and hard manner.

With her serving us, I can’t feel welcomed or relaxed, I felt I’m at an army and had to be ready whenever she came to us. I felt I was hosting her, not hosted by her.

It was extremely unpleasant and uncomfortable to eat at her table. She kept doing this for many times. I have never seen a Japanese waitress with such a bad manner. (We still tipped decently because the Japanese guy at door and other waitresses were gentle and lovely)

The food was okay. Some skewers tasted bitter. I had better skewers and quality of meat at other locations in Vancouver at similar price.

Receptionist guy has a bad attitude and doesn't speak English well. My partner is japanese and she said service was not good.
Food was ok but overpriced for what you get
Tables for two are super tiny

I come here at least every couple of months, if not more. The food and service are always excellent and consistent. I love that they have rotating fresh sheets, so there's always something new to try if you’re a regular.

If you're planning to go on a Friday or Saturday night, make sure to book a reservation at least a week in advance. This cozy vibe reminds me of the izakayas I went to in Japan. There's even a button by the smaller tables to call for service, so you won’t be forgotten in the tucked-away seats.

They offer a selection of Japanese beers and sakes, though their non-alcoholic drinks tend to be quite sugary. I really miss their matcha parfait topped with a matcha lava cake for $9.80—they no longer offer it. But the matcha and black sesame ice cream are delicious, just a bit on the small side.

There are so many standout dishes here, though the ankimo was the only one I didn’t care for. They have overcooked the beef tongue and lamb chops a couple of times too.

The two of us typically spend around $90-120 depending on our appetite. We always order two Zakkushi sets, a karaage or Negi-toro don, two drinks, and sometimes a fresh sheet item, extra skewers, or a dessert to top it off.

Tasty skewers with tons and tons of variety for whatever kind of grilled meat/seafood/veggies you may like. I also recommend getting the grilled rice ball with shoyu and butter as it's so good!

Very authentic Japanese barbecue, no flashy food, basically the same as eating in Japan. It is recommended to eat a whole set of skewers
