The mains were ok but one dish was mostly lettuce and the other was quite small. For $25 a plate, not a great value. The chocolate cake was a bit dry and there was not enough sauce to fix that. The room is beautiful but it echos and the booming music is too loud. The staff were lovely but I can't come back here because it costs too much and it's noisy.

OMG who knew there was such a great authentic Oaxacan Mexican restaurant in Kits?!?!?!?! I must have driven by the old Jerry's Cove pub location hundreds of times without ever noticing it had been converted into a real authentic Mexican restaurant (not TexMex) over a year ago. Food was absolutely amazing with flavours and spices i've never tasted before. From the mole to molcajete (stone bowl) dishes everything was incredibly flavourful. NO JOKE this place is the real deal.

Still craving the mole negro, can’t wait to go back and try some more dishes. Had the huitlacoche and sable fish and both were delicious. Drinks were great and fairly priced. Atmosphere of the restaurant was moody and dark, in a good way. Highly recommend.

Don’t get me wrong: the service was lovely! Great staff and atmosphere, but the food was such a disappointment. The prices are so unreasonable for the quality of food you are getting. You can find yourself a similar experience quality wise for $10-$15 less a plate at many other Mexican restaurants in the city.

Vegetarian options: The vegetarian options are just not worth the cost. You would save a lot making these at home!

Amazing experience at Zepoteca tonight! The food was incredible and the service was the cherry on the cake. Melanie and Maya, among the other wait staff, made my first trip here one to remember.

I have visited a couple times for dinner, each time the food and service have been great. Prices are on the higher side for Mexican food but I have generally found them to be fair for the portions and quality. We wanted some chips and salsa to start but fortunately the only option is to get the chips, salsa and guacamole which is an astounding $17, which didn’t come with enough chips to finish the sauces (an extra $2.50 for more chips…). This is probably the only Mexican restaurant where I’ve ever paid $20 for chips and guacamole. The other appetizers are also similarly expensive relative to the price of the main dishes.

My visit to Zapoteca was a great experience.

The food was 4/5.
I tried the tortilla soup, which has a big room of opportunity. I dare to say based on my choice of main dish that they can make it much closer to the authentic Mexican recipe.
I also ordered barbacoa as a main dish, and although it is far from the taste of the authentic barbacoa you find in Mexico, the dish is very well done, the presentation 10/10.
The michelada with Modelo Especial was cold and perfect, the bartender's execution was very good.

The service 5/5
From start to finish, the entire staff makes you feel welcome and provides great customer service. The experience invites you to return without hesitation. I arrived without a reservation and they managed to seat me at the bar. Each of the people I interacted with did their best to provide great customer service. The bartender was super friendly. When they saw that my tortillas were running out, they offered me more and they were always on the lookout to make sure everything was in order and that I was happy.

Atmosphere 5/5
Every corner of this place is taken care of to make you feel like you are somewhere in Mexico. Lots of barro negro and an aesthetic that took me to Oaxaca, well executed.

Everyone must give Zapoteca a chance!

If you're looking for a Mexican restaurant that goes beyond the ordinary, this spot is it. We've been twice, and both times the service was brilliant—the kind where you trust the server enough to let them order everything for you, and each dish is a hit. The recommendations are spot-on, and the ambiance? Killer. It's the perfect blend of laid-back and lively, with just the right amount of buzz to keep you coming back.
