The chicken and pancakes were delicious. The chicken had a tiny kick to it which I really appreciated. The pancakes were nice and fluffy.
The cinnamon rolls were also soooooo good! Huge size and love that they warm it up for you. Possibly the best I’ve ever had! Definitely don’t skip this place 🙂

Update January 2025: Whenever I'm in the neighbourhood, I stop by for takeaway treats. This time were a scrumptious biscoff cookie-sammie, a berry crumble and a PB&J cookie. Delicious!
Older review: I really enjoyed the cheeeese burger today, and I brought away a big filled doughnut, the pizza swirl and a cinnamon bun. I've had the good, sweet, chocolate-and-raspberry, cream-filled doughnut and am sure I will enjoy the other two items tomorrow. The café was doing a brisk business at 1:30 pm on a Friday. In later years, I've enjoyed breakfast and other comfort-food meals at Fern.
Coffees, teas, plant milks and WiFi available too.

We love Fern Cafe. The poutine is worth a very long drive to get to. Love the pancakes and ‘chicken’ strips. A must do every time we are in Victoria. Enjoy!

Delicious plant based food and an extremely lovely service - I spent lunch over there this summer with my pet sitting dog and didn’t knew that it isn’t allowed to take dog into restaurants at all… ? - but with the helping hands and cuddles from you guys I could enjoy your delicious food outside! Wow!!! This was insanely good. Like don’t walk.. run! Literally every treat we tried (the donuts, pretzel, smor’s cookie, brownie, scone,cinnamon bun) was beyond good. It was delicious, fresh and the staff was super nice and friendly. Will definitely go back next time visiting on the island!!

I can never recommend this place enough. I live on the mainland and am so lucky I have family on the island nearby to fern so that I have an excuse to buy an excessive amount of treats to share. I’ve had all manner of meals there, I’ve taken coffee and treats to go, I’ve dined in. I’ve seen the cafe change layouts and somehow get cuter. The atmosphere is immaculate, the neighborhood is super cute, the staff are always fantastic and helpful, and even if I didn’t have family nearby I would travel just for that food. My favourite so far is mostly breakfast foods, like best pancakes ever, but that Mac n cheese and the chickn burger are also so good.

Fern Cafe and Bakery became my favourite vegan comfort food place even before I moved to Victoria. When I first walked in the door the comfort vibe hit me hard! The staff is cool, kind and considerate, and the food is delicious and made with a ton of love. Some of my favourite items are the Big Mac Crafty Mac, 'Chicken' Caesar, 'Chicken' and Pancakes, and Nutella Oat Milk Latte. Honestly, everything's stellar. If I could eat there every day I would. I go at least once a week, and so can you!
