Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. Everything was hot, fresh, and actually tasted like it should—not the usual mystery-sauce situation. Portions were solid, flavors were on point, and I left full and happy. No complaints… which is rare. Definitely coming back.

Went to J and Js for the first time ever tonight and we were quite pleased with the quality of the food. Rice was super fresh, they didn't cheap out on the meats and everything was cooked just right. We will be back!

The food was amazing even though it is gluten free. The service was also great and fast. Definitely we will come back next time we're in Victoria.

I've been coming to this restaurant for many years for take-out as well as dining in and I can honestly say that this is by far the best Chinese restaurant in all of Greater Victoria. The food and service are top notch and there isn't a single item on their menu that isn't absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting; perfect for dining alone or with friends. I recently moved back to downtown Victoria from the Westshore and literally live just down the street from J and J Wonton Noodle House. What a pleasure it will be to be able to just pop in whenever I wish for a tasty meal or take-out without having to travel far. If you love eating great Chinese food like I do, this is definitely the restaurant that you must visit (again and again).

I was a bit worried trying the food here after I saw the other reviews. Ordered the Ma-po tofu and mushrooms, mixed veggies in garlic sauce, and a side of rice. The ma-po tofu was listed as spicy but wasn’t at all. It was an okay dish but not what I expected . The mixed veggies in garlic were good but seemed a bit oil heavy. I don't leave bad reviews, but I cant let this one go. We ordered because the reviews are so glowing, but honestly, I have no clue how people think this is the best. Fried rice was not seasoned at all,so bland, didn't even taste like they salted it and the chicken? What chicken? It was like little tiny chinks of rubber.
The chowmein noodles were undercooked and whatever sauce they put on it tasted burned and it was weirdly watery. I didn't think it was possible to make tasteless s&s pork, but they managed to do it. Hands down the worst chinese food I have ever had in this town. No one in our house would eat it. I spent $90, for compost. It is incredibly overpriced and quite frankly ridiculous. I mean if their goal is tasteless weird textures and watery food, then they nailed it, but it's safe to say, I will NEVER order from this place again.I can no longer trust people's reviews of food in this town because what the heck is wrong with people's taste buds!? Thanks for helping me waste my money.

If culinary disappointment had a headquarters, I’m convinced JJ Wonton Noodle House is running regional operations.

We ordered four dishes through Uber Eats: chicken chow mein, house fried rice, stir-fried duck and vegetables, and sweet and sour pork. Ninety dollars later, I’m staring at four containers wondering if we accidentally ordered the “practice versions” of these dishes, because there is no universe where these were the finals.

Let’s start with the sweet and sour pork. I’ve seen toddlers with Play-Doh kitchens produce more convincing sauces. Whatever they used tasted like someone mixed ketchup with white vinegar during a power outage.

The chow mein was a spiritual experience, but in the way that makes you question every decision that led you to this moment. Chow mein is supposed to be noodle-forward. JJ’s version contained approximately five noodles, all undercooked to a level I can only describe as “crunchy optimism.” Everything else tasted faintly burnt, like the wok was trying to signal for help.

The house fried rice… where do I begin? Half the chicken pieces were gristle so tough I’m convinced they were doing CrossFit. The rice itself had no seasoning at all. None. Zero. It tasted like someone steamed sadness and called it a day.

And then there was the duck. For the price, I expected slices of duck breast. Instead, we got shredded mystery pieces that felt like they were swept together at closing time. The sauce was fine, but it was basically the life preserver on a sinking ship.

We tried this place again because the wonton soup years ago was “eh, decent.” Tonight’s meal made that soup feel like a Michelin experience by comparison. I genuinely don’t understand the wave of five-star reviews. Either people have never tasted good Chinese food, or they’re reviewing from inside the restaurant’s Matrix simulation.

Either way, consider this your warning flare. We will never order from here again, and I’m leaving one star only because zero isn’t an option.
