I'm not sure if I got some bad orders, but the quality of this place seems to have dropped my last couple visits. The flavour seems to be lacking, and the portion sizes are very small for the price. $37 for 4 tacos is quite steep when the fillings amount to 2 or 3 bites worth of food. Especially when not eating one of them because it just tasted bad. This place used to be amazing, I hope it has just been an anomaly as of late!

I've been a loyal patron of this Victoria Taqueria for years whenever I visit from California. The service has consistently been outstanding, deserving a 5-star rating, and the inviting atmosphere never fails to impress. The food has always been a delightful experience, offering truly authentic Mexican cuisine that tantalizes my taste buds on every visit. However, today I was greatly disappointed. The food was prepared poorly, with overcooked dishes and an excessive use of cooking oil. The tacos lacked any distinct flavor, overwhelmed by the taste of oil, and were noticeably overdone. On a positive note, the beverages were excellent, the service remained fantastic, and atmosphere of the restaurant has a great vibe. Considering the price I paid for lunch, I expected a far superior experience reminiscent of my previous visits. I'm pretty sure this was my last visit to this restaurant.

The tacos were super delicious! I’m super happy I tried this place. The tacos were a bit pricey but I will come back. And I would love to see what they have for their happy hour. Highly recommend!

Used to love this place now the price is not worth it, service is abysmal. Messed up my order once before after insane wait time. No big deal mistakes happen. Came back and it happened again tried to have dinner with my friends and we all ate at separate times because they forgot to put our order in. It wasn't the mistake it was how they treated us after that was awful. Ignored the issue completely. There's way better places in Victoria.

Don’t say you serve signature homemade guacamole when it’s clearly packaged. It was whipped and had a weird texture like the stuff you get out of bags. It was unappetizing. Ordered 4 tacos and they were all soggy and had hardly any filling. I absolutely love Mexican food and am shocked that this place is so popular. Had really high hopes. Not to mention service was sooooo slow, took them 20 minutes just to take our order.

Aye yaye yaye! Lunch was everything we could ask for. Fast service and really yummy meals. We had the fried chicken burrito, fish baja tacos, beef burrito and of course the very tasty and chilled Miss Hibiscus Margarita. Definitely coming back to try more tacos and special drinks!

Delicious food with a sizable portion. Service was prompt, the bar was nothing to write about. Ambiance was plain. Had not the restaurant been full I would have found another restaurant. Overall thumbs up.

In and out quick for our first try at La Taqueria. The space is pretty cool with the exposed beams and venting overhead, the bar and kitchen being in the middle of the restaurant is also nice. Staff were super friendly and pleasant especially our server. My daughter and I had a taco each, she had the al pastor and I the carnitas, both on corn tortillas.I love that they used both a yellow and a blue corn tortillas and were warmed nice and soft but cooked. The carnitas were quite nice. Nice balance of flavours although as a personal preference I wanted a little more crackling/fat to lean meat ratio. All three hot sauces(not pictured) were their own flavour profiles and heat levels so that was A+.The pastor for my daughter, she said was “ok”, she rates it a 3.5 stars as she was looking for that nicely shaven/char from the meat that’s cooked nicely on the spit and she feels she didn’t get that. (She’s had a lot of Al Pastor at different taco stands in Mexico last year, so I feel it’s a fair opinion). The pineapple salsa was a bit much for her in terms of ratio with the meat so she took some off which I ate and I quite liked them actually.Cannot wait to come back to try everything.

Three little deep fried "enchiladas" topped with RICOTTA CHEESE and MARINARA SAUCE for $19?! Where did you guys learn to make Mexican food? New York City?

We've been here once in the summer, the place looked a bit different this time and the menu has changed. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our visit. The sitting is very uncomfortable. The tables are high with bar stools, you can't even throw your jacket on the back of your chair or relax your back. I had cheese quesadillas. Even though the flavors were good, it was just 2 small taco shells in a pool of sauce, no rice or beans, nothing. It looked like an overpriced appetizer. Needless to say I was starving after. I'm 112 lbs and rarely leave restaurants hungry (or hangry). So would not come back and would not recommend.

Great place for some great tacos ? ? We have dined here several times now, and as of late, for the Happy Hour menu. Tacos are big and filling and priced well. They are well presented and put together. We had the Fish, Cauliflower, Carnita and Bean tacos, delightful. The Guacamole and chips are yummy too, the chips are nice and crunchy with the right amount of seasoning. Definitely recommend. It's our favorite place for tacos any day of the week ?

The worst burrito ? I have tried ever. I was suggested from front service crispy chicken. I was excited but first bite gave a me weird taste. There was tooooo much sour sauce with cabbage and carrot not lettuce visible. It was not eatable at all. It did not like a burrito but crab. I called them twice to complain but no answer.Really Disappointing

I spent $25 on three tacos ($30 after tip). It was barely more than a snack. If the tacos were gourmet and mind-blowing or at least really filling, the price would be justified. But one of them was meh, and the other two were very good...not excellent, just very good. The fish wasn't even something nice...just some unidentifiable white fish. When I to to pay, somehow the tip suggestions start at 18% even though I have to go up to order from the till and fetch my own water in a tiny cup? Should we really be asked to tip for being directed to a poorly-lit bench in a self-serve cafe? What exactly is that extra money for? I know costs have gone up, but this was a lesson in someone soon parted from their money.

All the taco choices are very special and delicious. There's also a wonderful cocktail menu. The BEST is the positive manager and our favourite kitchen staff. They even remember us visit to visit.
