I cannot recommend this place enough! I decided to take a chance and cancelled my hotel booking to stay here. I stayed in a female dorm, paid $10 deposit for a large, soft white towel, $10 deposit for an in room storage lock. The beds were comfy and private (mine was on lower bunk with a curtain. Plug and light in each bunk. The breakfasts and dinners were included and delicious. There’s a communal kitchen and laundry room, multiple shared bathrooms on each floor. This is within walking distance to all the sites. I would definitely stay here again.

Had a private queen room with shared bathroom for a few days. Room was impeccably clean as were the bathrooms. Lot of information available for your stay, discounts to places and even free dinner & breakfast were available ! If you have to stay in Victoria I highly recommend this hostel.

This hostel was the cheapest option which I found for our last minute trip to Victoria. For such a price I didnt expect much, but have to say that for 1night it was ideal. Very close to downtown, walkable to beach and Beacon park. It is maybe 1-2min from the bus station from a ferry terminal. I didnt expect much from breakfast and the dinner but the pasta dinner was pretty cool and breakfast was nice too. The only negative thing was the hair on the benlinen, other than that the room was clean and also the shared washroom.

Ocean Island was far better than my expectations. The price included breakfast, dinner and a drink! Such fabulous bonuses to the stay! And dinner was delicious! Rooms and bathrooms were very clean and tidy. I appreciated the extra security at the front door and at the floor access. The location was perfect and everything was in easy walking distance. I will definitely stay there again and recommend it to my friends.

Convenient and affordable. Highly recommended for young travelers of modest means. Friendly service and good conversations with fellow guests will be remembered. Never felt unsafe in and around the hostel.

Great location and hygiene. Very organized (amenities, supplies, bedroom) ? ?. Very quiet during the night. A variety of restaurants nearby. 5min walk from the Public transportation to the Tsawwassen.

Loved our one-night stay. Very friendly, casual vibe. Our stay here took me back to my most enjoyable hostel experiences elsewhere in Canada, Central America and Europe. Very well-run accommodation. Excellent location close to many popular spots in downtown Victoria. Appreciated the maintenance of security. Very good value for the dollar! Will be back!

This is a great place to stay. Come and meet travellers from all over the world! Clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Central location. Close to transit, tourist attractions and restaurants. Healthy, tasty breakfasts and dinner. We’ll definitely stay again when visiting Victoria!

The was a great little gem. I see why other reviews are good. Check in was easy and security was good. I stayed on the 4th floor and there was three locked doors between me and the outside. Everything was spotless too. The included breakfast, dinner and a drink was extras that I did not expect but was a nice surprise. I would definitely stay again.

A friend and I spent one night here and loved everything about it. Great vibe- very welcoming and easy to get settle into the relaxed social atmosphere. Had a few beers at the bar downstairs before heading out for the evening. Great bartender and staff, all friendly, fun and great at what they do. The room was comfortable and clean, the bathroom and common spaces well looked after, and we had everything we needed. Location good too, just a short walk from bars, shoos, harbour etc. Great value, and it was awesome to have been able to have a fun experience instead of just a place to crash. Really looking forward to staying here again.

They took my money then told me they “don’t want people like you as guests” and refused to return my money

Price experience score (9.5/10)Free breakfast and dinner for room occupants. Free one glass of alcohol per day of stay.Cleanliness was observed in the shared utilities.Luckily my roommates were very nice.Location right smack at downtown. Great location although beside the street so you can hear vehicles. Bring your eye covers too as windows are left open.Incredibly Great Value for money for a dorm and to be in downtown Victoria.

My stay at this hotel was quite the adventure. The bed I slept on here was on a piece of plywood propped up on top of some shelves. The room felt like one of those compact rooms they have in japan minus the cleanliness. The room although it cleaned felt unclean and uncomfortable due to the linty blankets which me and my brother decided to sleep on top of instead of in. The best part of my experience was the fire alarm that woke everyone up at 2 am. Everyone on the floor was awoken and the reason this happened was because someone decided to smoke inside their room. Happy Canada day I guess.. This whole experience cost us a good 158 $ dollars (per room). And there was no apology or compensation for the type of service we were given. If anyone decides to stay here don't expect much luxury.
