The Dine around menu had lots of variety making it a difficult choice. We chose Lobster ravioli and Ling Cod with mushroom risotto. Both were delicious. We recommend this restaurant and will be back soon

This was a Dine Around evening that exceeded all expectations! Excellent menu offerings and great value!

One of the best meals I've had in a long time! I wanted to have a Dine Around meal at Steamship because it brought back last year's delicious Whiskey Crab Soup - and it was every bit as good this year. I also had the Miso Glazed Ling Cod with risotto and beet puree. It was absolutely wonderful - the fish was cooked perfectly - something I haven't encountered often in restaurant meals - and the risotto and purees were perfect. Finally the Chocolate Pate was divine - deeply chocolatey and the red wine grape jelly and roasted white chocolate crumb were perfect accompaniments. I will confess that my last couple of meals at Steamship were ok but not great but this meal was really fabulous.

One would expect a little slower service on New Year's Eve, but the dismal service and food were less than expected. The restaurant was not busy so there was really no excuse We had to ask our server 3 times for silverware and napkins only to have the bus boy (?) bring after he brought our appetizer. All three of us ordered the prime rib, two were as requested, medium rare, the third mine was overdone, the vegetables were raw and cold. Pretty sad for such an iconic location.

We were there for early New Year's Eve dinner. Had the Ultimate Steak and Seafood platter. DELICIOUS! Everything cooked perfectly. Had the house red wine on happy hour, which is a lovely cabernet merlot. Drunken donuts for dessert. Service was a bit spotty, but the servers were nonetheless friendly and helpful. All in all a great evening! Would definitely go again!

We ordered cocktails first and, at the same time, placed our food order along our choice of wine to be served with the meal. Our cocktails were served, and only ten minutes later our meals arrived, giving us no reasonable time to enjoy our drinks. The food was delivered by someone other than our server (who was lovely), and she appeared uninterested in hearing that this timing was inappropriate. When we expressed our surprise and disappointment, she just looked at us blankly. We accepted the meals and cancelled the wine order. We then ordered dessert and coffee and were back on the street within the hour. Overall, it was not a particularly enjoyable dining experience.

Attentive waitstaff and tasty salads. Salmon burger very good; crab burger ok. Asked for a window seat and got one! Overall very well presented.

Tasty food and great portion! It was Christmas Day and was clearly under staff. But our server was very lovely.

My cut of steak was poor and was replaced immediately and #2 was superb. Harry our server was GREAT and very attentive ☺️

Amazing food. My steak was cooked perfectly, oysters were fresh. It was quiet and the environment was welcoming

Some places hold more than a view. Steamship Grill & Bar does.

Set in the heart of the Inner Harbour, the restaurant now sits where the old wax museum once stood — a small landmark of my childhood. Coming here feels familiar, not just for the memory, but for what it represents. Old Victoria. The kind that still lingers in the air.

From inside, the view is pure postcard — the water, the Parliament buildings, the quiet rhythm of the harbor below. In warmer months, the patio steals the show. Ours was a cooler day, so we stayed inside — no loss there. The room is open, comfortable, and built for slowing down.

We started with a few appetizers, each one solid. My main was the truffle mushroom pizza — large, rich, and easy to finish even when you shouldn’t. The kind of dish you push past full for, just to keep the flavor going.

It wasn’t as busy as I expected, but I didn’t mind. The quiet matched the view — calm, steady, familiar.

Steamship doesn’t rely on nostalgia alone. It delivers it — in setting, in comfort, in the kind of meal that makes you stay a little longer than planned.

I booked two day in advance. Upon arrival they did not have not reservation. Further checking it was on a piece of paper. All the information was correct. It was our “53” anniversary and we wanted to celebrate at the steamship grill. Nothing was said or congratulating us. Upon leaving I said how disappointed I was and the comment back was that I should have told the waitress. NOT MY JOB. The hostess read everything back to me from the paper. Everything was indicated on the reservation.
We came from Alberta to Victoria, very disappointed.
