This was our first time and we will definitely be BACK!! Every dish was fantastic! The drinks were amazing and they had Belgium beers which are the BEST!! This will become a regular spot for us! The only feedback was the table was a bit big for 4 people, didn't feel as cozy and comfortable a bit clinical being so far apart. Otherwise so good!!

We had to wait for our menu, while watching several staff walk past us. No coffee offered as soon as we sat down for breakfast. Wait staff did not listen or hear requests. Food was adequate but it took a long time to arrive, not just for us but for other guests. I would not recommend The Courtney Room. In stark contract the Magnolia Hotel team was fantastic and we would return to the hotel.

Arrived for our reservation and we're taken to a terrible table that was right by their service station, the kitchen hall, a staircase and hallway as well as a bright light. Asked if we could move to another table were role it was taken and all booked. We had stated in the reservation this was a special occasion both an anniversary and birthday. Made the reservation many weeks ago. Hostess could care Less and then looking around realized it is just a hotel dining room not as nice as advertised. Really check this place out as it is high priced with crappy ambience and could not even get a descent table. Went across the street to 10 Acres and had a spectacular dinner that was half the prices in The Courtenay room

Fantastic food and service. We couldn't have been happier. I don't know where the people with negative reviews ate but they didn't eat here. We try to eat in as many restaurants as we can on Vancouver Island so we rarely return to restaurants where we have already eaten. This restaurant will go onto our return to list. Go and enjoy.

Hey, we ate here one year ago and nothing different at all. Very pickled and truffley and smokey and wintry already in menu. Duck, cabbage, crab, scallops, beets.... need some "fresh, bright, crips, acid lemon herb" flavours as balance or something. you ran out of pasta and not a lot left then for vegetarian mains if one didn;t want cabbage. The beet appetizer is ridiculous in size. Like the amount of three large beets, who eats that? Service was not up to the prices. The noise from bartender voice was really loud at one point, odd acoustics? The setting is lovely, the view nice, but those who had duck, pork chop or the crab ravioli were just...... underwhelmed. Maybe a nice re-fresh?

seated promptly. Waiter to a bit too long to ask about drinks. Bar tender failed miserably at a Pisco Sour (sent back) and then produced an totally underwhelming Caipirinha. If you don't know how to do - don't. Food was good. Beet salad was good. Crab Ravioli had an off-putting smell - was it not fresh? Duck breast was excellent. Dessert was excellent. Room was a bit too noisy for our taste.

The service was wonderful as was the food. I highly recommend getting a dessert because while everything was great, the desserts were phenomenal. I particularly loved the huckleberry mousse and the seasonal pumpkin pie.

We have had great experiences here before but this time was absolutely amazing. The food was perfect. The service was noticeably perfect. The waiter was a great mix of serious and personable. When the appetizers came they came all at once with a number of runners. Same with dinner everyone plated at once. Dessert also brought all at once. This service touch really stuck out. There was 5 of us and it was our family Thanksgiving dinner so it was everything we were hoping for and more.

Three adults and one child - bill came up to $566 with tip. For that much, we were denied to get two extra milk buns when we asked. This is a bit silly. Also when my kid asked for extra lettuce on her burger, the waitress said she will have to ask if thats possible... also silly. Come on!

Johnny was a great server and gave amazing recommendations. Great ambiance for a nice dinner to celebrate our anniversary and cap off a great trip. Oysters were perfection! Beef tenderloin and duck were delicious. Amazing local Cabernet to top it off.
