Almost all on the lunch plate were fried in oil. That was disappointing. We ordered California rolls and one more from the special list. I would recommend expanding a variety of rolls because I did not see my favorite ones that I usually order in other places. Please, make lunch sets less oily (or at least use good avocado oil). I did not feel well after that lunch.

I heard from several people to absolutely try this place because it's so amazing. I'm very torn on this review because the food was amazing. So much flavor. But the service wasn't great. We waited a long time for water. Our waitress wasn't very helpful or friendly. I'm honestly not sure I'll come back here. Maybe I would order to go?I do have to add there was a group sitting at a booth, looked like a bachelor party. One of the employees there was chanting something and taking shots with them. Just looked like a whole lot of fun. I love when a place cares about making the atmosphere fun and energetic, so this did help my rating a little bitI do think it's worth stating one more time, the food was amazing!

So many Japanese restaurants in Victoria and ended up going to Toro and did not disappoint. The food was super delicious and presented to us nicely. Price was very reasonable for the quality of food we got. Service was great and the ambience was contemporary and chill. Wow, wow, wow! This is so far my favourite Japanese restaurant in Victoria. I ordered the Kaisen Don, which consisted of chef's selection of sashimi on top of a bed of rice. When they first brought out the dish, I was amazed by its impressive presentation...something similar to what I would see in Japan! For the cost ($33), I felt it was a generous sampler of sashimi and all of the seafood tasted fresh!I first tried ordering the lunch bento box and then the uni don, but they both sold out before I could get my hands on one. They seem short-staffed as there were only two servers. However, my waiter (Andy) did a great job serving everyone and I felt like he was always around when I needed something.I will definitely be back to try other items on their menu!

Really not sure what hype is about. (After reading reddit I see it's because customers were offered a free dessert for a 5 star review. The service was slow, the rolls were poorly made, the Jumbo dynamite was missing the yam Tempura(which is basically the only difference between the regular dynamite) and the presentation was terrible/ falling apart despite not even being the full roll. I brought it to their attention and they just looked at me confused and I had to keep pointing to the roll and menu..I had to literally convince him it wasn't in there despite yam being very obvious to see if it was in there. The beef roll just tasted like yam because there was barely any beef on it , only part of it I tasted was a weird burned taste from the torch. Someone was having a birthday party so we got blinded by flashing lights from the camera hundreds of times. Overall not good experience. Was really excited to try this place, really disappointed. They also lied about how busy they were, I called in the afternoon asking to make a reservation for 530pm they said the earliest was 615.. we got there at 6 and the restaurant was basically dead.. then because they took so long to serve us we were stuck there getting blinded until almost 8pm.. we only ordered 4 rolls.

The tofu teriyaki is a pleasant surprise. ? Salad and so much veggies, even asparagus and brussel sprouts! Blown away. Nice vibes too. Everyone is friendly.
