My sister and I wanted to take our mom out for her birthday to celebrate her, and I had high expectations for this high tea experience after hearing only positive reviews. Unfortunately, it turned out to be incredibly disappointing. Service was nonexistent, I had to physically get up four separate times just to ask for basic things like more jam and cream, milk for our tea, hot water, a box, and the bill. Not once did a server come to check on us (only when I had to go up to them). Instead, the staff sat at a table alongside guests, glued to their phones, showing a complete lack of awareness or care. At one point, they all sat down together next to guests to eat, leaving the floor “unattended” for guests needs and making it uncomfortable to approach them as it felt I would be interrupting their lunch break. I have never seen such an unprofessional approach to hospitality. The person I believe was the manager (an older woman with grey hair and glasses) was no exception. She only got up when it was time to process payments, then immediately returned to her seat and her phone, making no effort to check on tables. When I politely expressed how disappointed I was with the experience, she simply muttered, “Sorry,” and walked away. When we went to pay, she repeated the same empty apology, and when I once again voiced my frustration, she responded with “Well, what would you like me to do? a question that, frankly, should never have to be asked. A competent manager would take initiative, offering a solution, a discount, or even just a genuine attempt to make things right. Instead, there was nothing. To top it off, the food was mediocre at best, certainly not worth the $42 per person; total of $125 for the three of us. I don’t expect perfection, but I do expect basic service, and even that was completely absent. Having worked in the service industry for over eight years, I understand that mistakes happen. But when they do, it is the responsibility of the staff and management to recover the guest experience. This place failed on every level, not just in service, but in any effort to correct their failure. Now in no means am I saying the server was rude or anything in that realm, it was the quality of service that was poor. Hoping this was a one off as I do see many great reviews, but I am disappointed that the quality and service didn’t match the price that we spent :/
I had the most wonderful experience at Clancy High Tea, celebrating my boyfriend’s grandma’s 93rd birthday! From the moment we walked in, the service was beyond impeccable—so warm and genuinely personable. The owner made us feel like family, going out of her way to make sure Grandma Grace felt celebrated and cherished on her special day.
The food was absolutely divine, with every detail thought out perfectly. Each pastry, sandwich, and sweet was crafted with care and tasted incredible. It was a true feast for the senses! The owner even took time to share stories and personally ensure everything was just right for Grandma Grace, which made the experience so much more meaningful.
If you’re looking for a place that combines exceptional service with delicious, beautifully presented food, Clancy High Tea is the place to go. I can’t recommend it highly enough, especially for a memorable celebration!
Came across this delightful tea shop by chance. I needed a table to make a client zoom call. I was graciously welcomed and soon discovered the magic of Clancy’s. I enjoyed some delicious homemade soup and a warm scone. Copious Irish tea and incredible service. Will be back with my family for High tea
This afternoon we attended the high tea provided by this establishment. I brought my best friend out for an outing as I was visiting from Alberta. Words cannot discribe the total experience we had during our stay. The atmosphere was quaint and cosy, the assortment of goodies on our tier caddy was delightful and most delicious. I was presented with a french press of coffee as I do not drink tea. The hostess/owner was extremely friendly as were the rest of the staff. I would most definitely highly recommend this little spot to everyone. We will return for another visit in July.
We had an incredible afternoon at Clancy’s! From the moment we walked in we were whisked away into this beautiful British Fairytale. The food was divine, the tea options endless, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be dreaming of those scones tonight! The attention to detail is impeccable - the darling teacups and spoons, the floral tablecloths, and even the little shop! Find a tea you love and purchase some extra to take home with you. We had a lovely family gathering there and I can’t wait to come back!

This place deserves more than 5 stars!!!
It’s the cutest tea house with the nicest owner that takes the time to explain what’s on the afternoon tea set and gives good suggestions for the tea.
The price is amazing for the quality and the place is located in a quieter part of white rock that let’s you relax and enjoy your conversation.
Highly recommend!!!
Enjoyed the high tea here

The cozy, welcoming atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a meal. The staff are friendly, warm, and go above and beyond to make you feel at home. If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by.

We called in. The lady said she will try to get us in, even had to call us back ?. We get there, there was hardly nobody there. People before us had no reservation, but got in right away, even served before us ?. We wanted cream and milk for our tea, never got it. Scones were dry, no flavor. Devonshire cream had no flavor, plus hardly gave us any, plus hardly no jam too. The sandwiches were good though.

We had such an amazing experience here and came back twice during our weekend trip to White Rock. The afternoon tea was delicious, came with so much food, and was a good value.

We enjoyed a delightful High Tea for eight people for my mother’s 95th birthday. My mum and I used to visit for tea and scones before the pandemic and health challenges prevented us from visiting, so it was extremely nice to be able to return for this special occasion. Clancy’s is a gem in the community! I look forward to visiting again.

I am pleased to report that approximately 160 Gregorian days later (ROUNDED, of course, to the nearest Julian day [and do excuse my arithmetic in case I have miscalculated]), I have returned to this absolute topaz of a place. Considering last visit's ethnic journey by dint of the fine teas offered, I decided that I must try the pastries. I made my way back to this charming location to once more step inside Its Excellency the Up, Down, Left, and Right Honourable Clancy's Tea Cosy. The tea sandwiches were simply SERAPHIC and the emotions stirred inside me can only be depicted by Michelangelo's Soffitto della Cappella Sistina. I then stumbled upon the scones. I do not hesitate when I proclaim that the only thing that could ever match such a fire surging in all crevices of my being is Hestia herself. My first bite, I admit, was taken in caution, for I feared that it would not match the sumptuousness delivered by those teas reminiscent of Grandmama's lair... though such a sentiment was swiftly eliminated. I felt as if my palate had let out a SAVAGE giggle from the FIERCELY rich flavour; by GEORGE, were these ever laudable!
Irresistible, untamed, sultry – these are the three words I'd pick to describe the Cosy, had I been asked to do so by a reporter of some sort. Once again, I have had nothing but an eye-opening experience here, except this time, I've uncovered another side of this precious palace. Not only do I recommend Clancy's to anyone that wishes to have a traditional, international, even genealogical experience with their teas, but I can also attest that a stimulating and electrifying experience will arise from your time here, as if you found yourself in none other than Wilburt's Ideal World.
Quaint little tea shop with delicious home made soups, freshly baked crumpets (including gluten free crumpets!) and a good selection of teas (of course!).
