Simply divine. Limited seating, so book beforehand. Server is very knowledgeable and supportive. The fish itself is extremely fresh and has no fishy taste at all. Each dish is crafted with care and excellence. They even had a fish that was almost extinct! A restaurant to experience, comes with a steep price tag, that's for sure! Feel free to ask for the servers recommendations.

Should have read recent reviews before I planned to take my friend there.I had visited Taka's several years ago, twice. Although the price is out of my normal spending range, it was a must-go place in my list. But this time, the feeling was all different. The moment I heard the restaurant had a full house of Chinese servers and cooks, I started to worry. We ordered two rolls and an aburi set. All of them were sprankled with same sauce for decoration, which covered their original flavor and wiped out the difference in fish and the dish. And I asked them to just to recommend in the Aburi set. To be honest, the plating of the different aburi was not great, not in the order of texture or fat content. Many pieces have a disaster feeling, especially the wagyu and the foie gras. Unlike years ago, each aburi was so good and so unique.Sashimi was OK, yet not the freshest. We ordered fish liver, which was supposed to eat with a pickled vegetable and some wasabi. However, the pickle and wasabi was too tiny compared to the size of the liver. There's no balance in it.And then, regardless of the price we paid, all the rest dishes were served with normal wasabi paste....Overall, I would not go there anymore.

This is not your typical neighbourhood Japanese restaurant. Restaurant is very small with no proper seating. You either sit at the counter or sit on the high chair with a small round table. Maybe that’s the theme the owner wanted, a bar or cocktail like setting. Be prepared to spend $100 per person not including drinks and you will still be thinking about what have you eaten. Maybe that’s why it’s located in White Rock.It lacks the fusion energy, definitely not a bar, doesn’t have any feel of a Japanese restaurant, other than a bunch of Japanese wines and sake being cluttered on the counter.Sushi serving is pretty small in terms of the cut of the fish and also the rice. The Aburi seared sushi was ok but I am not sure about the sashimi. We ordered a couple of the thin slices and I had to go to the toilet several times after I got home. The human body doesn’t lie, it just rejects anything that’s not good.Service was below par, staff was standing together chatting away, no effort was put into the choice of cutlery and setting to have the Japanese touch, food presentation was bad, nothing is high end except the price.Small place with a HUGE price tag. Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with targeting the big spenders with your prices. But you have to give your customers the feeling that their money is well spent.

It was ok place, the aburi style sushi put too much sauce on them that i think it eroded the sashimi’s flavour.

Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurant in White Rock and the greater Vancouver area. All the fish are of top quality and beautifully presented. For my first visit, the best part was the bluefin chutoro sashimi (the ordinary uni was just ordinary to be honest; should have tried something fancier) and the fois gras/lobster tail/flounder fringe aburi sushi. The wagyu beef was a bite overdone, and the rest were not as stunning as heard. However, the “Taka’s fire” roll was beyond expectations and all their Americanized-rolls are bot expensive at all. Also ordered a small bottle of yuzu sake (which was good). Regrettably they don’t have more cocktail/high ball options.Service: attentive but not overwhelming. Hot tea was served on time. Conclusion: worth the money and time. Have already decided to find time for a second visit when still around the area.

They have best quality sushi thatI have in white rock or south Surrey. A bit pricey but it is worth it.

The food here is absolutely AMAZING! As someone who lived in Japan for four years, this sushi definitely reminded me of my time there. I highly recommend this place. Only downside is that it’s slightly pricey, but you definitely pay for the quality and in my opinion it is worth it.

I have been to Taka's Sushi several times and it has never let me down. The same great experience every time I visit. Fresh fish, delicious aburi, good service. Only recommendation is make a reservation before you go, otherwise....Taka is definitely my go-to when I want sushi in Vancouver.
