Sonic Enters Value Menu Battle with $1.99 "Fun.99 Menu"

Sonic Drive-In is making waves in the fast-food world with a new value menu that's friendly to both appetites and budgets. The "Fun.99 Menu," launched on Monday, offers a variety of items for just $1.99 each.

Looking for a filling burger or a classic hot dog? The menu features a quarter-pound double cheeseburger and a Chili Cheese Coney. For those wanting a snack, there are small tater tots, while dessert lovers can enjoy 16-ounce shakes. Sonic's even introducing new items like Bacon Ranch Queso Wraps and Southwest Crunch Queso Wraps.

"Now more than ever, consumers are focused on affordable food options, but they shouldn't have to settle for the same old, tired discounts or boring meals," said Sonic CMO Ryan Dickerson. "Many restaurant brands are touting value meals and discounts, and you see a lot of recycled ideas with limited options."

Unlike some rivals' short-term deals, Sonic's "Fun.99 Menu" is permanent at all 3,500+ locations, available "all day, every day." This move puts Sonic up against other fast-food giants like McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Burger King, who have recently launched their own value options.

The timing makes sense. As McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski noted in April, "It is clear that broad-based consumer pressures persist around the world. Consumers continue to be even more discriminating with every dollar that they spend as they faced elevated prices in their day to day spending, which is putting pressure on the QSR industry."

With this new menu, Sonic is offering variety and value, giving budget-conscious diners more reasons to visit their drive-ins.
