An underrated place with good food and prices.

This place is known for their fresh eel. When I say fresh, I mean live swimming in water. There aren't many places in usa that has these so they aren't cheap. $40 per pound and they are usually 3-4lbs per white eel. The white eel reminds me of Chinese steam fish but more fatty skin and less meat. To be honest I hated steam fish as a kid and I thought I would hate this but I came here to try because my mom missed this food. To my surprise, they cooked it fairly well. I can eat this. The sauce is the amazing part. The eel was cooked well but still is not my favorite. My mom on the other hand loved this as this reminds her of hong kong. The lamb hotpot was decent. It was as I expected. I will come back though because apparently their congee looks really good and they have live yellow eel which is the one I actually want. So I'll update once I try that.

Taste of all the dishes were not bad, except the clay pot one. Usually Hong Kong style café included rice with dishes, but they don't. Atmosphere and quality of services were not pleasant. When we came, its business was slow. A server helped three tables. I heard people wanted to have hot drinks, she shouted back and said only cold drinks. That server seemed unhappy and rude. Alhambra is a very competitive market for Hong Kong cafe. Diners definitely have so many choices. I think the operator needs go out and tries other restaurants in local markets. All the best!

The Cantonese Food talk about "Wok Chi". Their dishes does have wok chi!!! Right portion and right taste. The friendly service is awesome. Refilled our tea right away. The environment is clean and comfortable. Great place for private parties and family dinner. Only problem I did not give 5 stars is that they should display some wine.

Came for lunch for 2 people. Lunch price is reasonable. We like the seafood rice noodles. The waitress recommended the eels clay pot rice, which had very little eel in it and the rice was a little over burnt in the clay pot. We do not recommend that eel clay pot rice at all.

Slipped into this place with my daughter and her friends at 10 minutes to midnight looking for a late meal after the Harry Styles concert. Even though they closed at midnight the waiter invited us in and the cook fired up the kitchen! Had a tasty meal of wonton noodle soup, chicken chow mein with crispy noodles, Peking style pork chops, and Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. The waiter joked with us and made sure we had everything we needed. Let us stay as long as we wanted. The food was delicious and the attitude of the staff made a perfect ending to a great evening.

The Yelp reviews here are probably for the older business, Cafe Spot, that New Haojing replaced. New Haojing has a lot to improve. The food - is not prepared well. The claypot rice with eel is so dry. They didn't add enough water. We ordered the soy sauce chow mien and the noodles were light in color and we couldn't taste the soy sauce. The whole restaurant was empty except for two other tables and lots of servers, but we had to walk up to get their attention multiple times -- to place our order, get our check, ask for boxes. The only good thing we had was the Hong Kong milk tea. I hope this new cook/management will improve their recipes.

Delicious dinner portions

Their wonton noodle soup was terrible. Most port inside the wonton with one tiny little shrimp. The broth was nothing but the taste of chicken flavor powder and boil yuchoi. The pork chop was rancid. Won't go back again.

This is one of the very few Chinese Restaurant that still serves super FRESH yellow eel and white eel. The chef made these two dishes the best they can be. I highly recommend this restaurant if you love authentic Cantonese food. You got to try these super FRESH eel bowls!

Food is good... certainly better than some of the other HK cafes just down the street and more deserving of customers.

The service of this place is really bad and servers are rude. I was the first customer that went in for breakfast in the beginning of the day. I asked them if they have breakfast, and the lady was like "what breakfast" in a rude way. Later i found out they dont serve breakfast anymore. Thats fine but how difficult is it to understand my question? Fine no problem. When they were taking in the order, i repeated myself at least 3 times of what i wanted, they kept saying huh? What? Then the 4th time i rise up my voice a little and she was like "ohhh...that" in a way saying i didnt speak clearly enough. The place inside is jacked up, tables and places are dirty and you dont feel this place wants to do business.

Ordered beef chowfun and House Special Pork Rib, chowfun was okay, big portion, but House Special Pork rib was kind of disappointing, too much sauces but little flavor. They should let me go back to the kitchen i definitely can cook better than this.
