This is a long overdue review for Sushi Yu. I don't know why this restaurant doesn't have 5* because it's a 5*++ in my books! The fish is fresh, high quality, and generous and the service is warm and attentive. Maybe my usual go to place is in a pricier neighborhood, but I feel like the sushi and rolls at Sushi Yu are well priced compared to the quality you of fish you get. I am especially grateful we have this restaurant near us after feeling very unsatisfied by Kura Revolving Sushi. My kids love Kura for the toys, but if you're used to paying Kura prices, then you'll like this place better.

The sushi was exceptionally fresh with clean, balanced flavors. Cuts were generous and the seasoning was on point. Service was attentive without being pushy, and the overall vibe felt modern and comfortable. A great spot for anyone who appreciates quality sushi.

I used to genuinely love this place, which makes it even more disappointing to see how much it has gone downhill under new management. It’s very clear they don’t know what they’re doing. The portion sizes were noticeably larger with the previous owners, but ever since the change, the servings have shrunk—definitely not what I was hoping for as a returning customer.
The service was also pretty underwhelming. Nothing outright terrible, just very mediocre and lacking the care this place used to have. The food itself was okay at best, but not nearly good enough to make up for everything else.
Unfortunately, I don’t see myself coming back. Every time new ownership takes over, the quality seems to suffer, and this place is no exception.

Love this place. I had a botched take out order at kopan ramen so i came here and they saved the day! My order was made super quick staff was friendly. Gabriella at the front was brilliant! Prices and food are great here.

Since the new owner took over, the quality of the fish has completely changed — in the best way. The sushi tastes incredibly fresh and premium, especially for the price. I honestly felt like I was having a high-end sushi experience without the high-end bill. This is officially my go-to Japanese spot from now on. Highly recommend!

We’ve been coming here for years and always loved the Sushi Me combo which had great value and fat chunks of fish. Recently informed new menu or new management but no longer offering that. Food is still good but going to find it hard to keep coming as often when the value isn’t as good.

Love this place. My husband and i have been coming here for years. We love their rolls and teriyaki bowls.
Today in particular, I ordered online and was kindly greeted by two young ladies. There was an error with my order and they were sweet enough to offer to remake it. As i waited, they served me water and were very attentive..i was very impressed with the customer service from these two girls. I hope their manager gives them praise for how amazing they are doing.

The staff is incredible. I will recommend this to everyone. I feel like we are home. The food is amazing, I have people coming from all over LA, coming to this facility. Amazing staff, amazing food. Most of all, the chefs are amazing.
