Do not order the preserved meat clay pot rice. Very disappointing. It's over priced and you get very little for your money.

The food is obviously made fairly fresh. And the food wasn't bad, but it's really inexpensive so they seem to rely heavily on fats and salt. The mapo tofu wasn't near spicy and in a bland sauce - so the leftovers got a bit of hot chili sauce at home and was acceptable. One of us got a shrimp noodle dish, and there was pretty much nothing else. She took hers home and added some veggies and some peppers and it became edible.Overall, the food is pretty basic, but with the low prices, it makes sense. We went during the New Year festival and service sucked. Couldn't get anyone to take our order, other tables got their food long before we did, and initial dishes came out wrong. But they were seriously overrun that day, so it's possible their service is usually better. But the food wasn't worth another try for us.The interior is functional, and they have an outside waiting area.

Not my mom's first choice for lunch special but close and easy. $10.99 dishes, 9am-930pm all day special (dine-in) in Alhambra. It's decent, if you ignore some sanitary issues. The chicken, and Chinese cauliflower are popular worth it choices. Food isn't too salty and oily which is nice. I liked that this place was on the lighter side of taste unlike other canto, or regional Chinese cuisine places with lunch special. For $10.50+ and comes with rice, it's hard to complain at that price with the portion size they offer. For Friday lunch time, it seems crowded and filled with seniors like my mom who loves deals over quality at times, and non-Chinese or tourist looking eaters....similar to ppl I would see at Mama Lu's in mpk. We've been here before but guess I forgot it. I would place it like a 3.5 stars and just rounded up because of it's amazing prices. The SO was craving fried rice. This place is not a fried rice place. But I did enjoy that it wasn't greasy or overly salty. If anything, it needed more salt.My kinda dirty napkin and cup were a turn off. I flipped my clean looking napkin to find that it was a little dirty in the back. I guess they aren't wasteful? I'm just hoping everything else is clean enough?

On our way to Santa Monica , this place was recommended for authentic Chinese cuisine. We are not disappointed. The place was very simple. Located on first street. The ambiance was very family friendly. We were seated right away and ordered food. It was served fast hot freshly cooked . The steamed tilapia was served last because of cooking time. The food overall was satisfying. Loved the freshness of it . The deep fried sole will always be our favorite. Crispy and fish was cooked tenderly. The steamed tilapia with black bean sauce was juicy .The sautéed green beans was crispy and tasty . It's garlicky which we liked. The chow fun with gravy was very filling. The salt and pepper fried pork was not oily yet super good. Overall it was true Chinese cuisine. Rice is free. They different selection of boba drinks too.

Very affordable meals Hong Kong style, very authentic, great tasting. More room here than Rosemead but there was still a wait of 15 min when we arrived. Steamed chicken looked appetizing. My beef and diakron pot was very tasty. The Curry did not look too good but it tasted good for all the fish balls to be consumed. The pork chop with fried rice only comes with sphagetti sauce or white sauce, both of did not match the tasty pork chop. The wonton seemed pk with my sister but the skins were separated from the fillings. But in most cases this place is worth exploring. Parking is in the structure behind this place.

Came for dinner and the place while wasn't fully packed with lines, there was a steady flow of people dining and going. Nonetheless, it wasn't hard to get a table and service was a bit out of there, but quick. When you flag someone for help, they do it quickly so a norm for Chinese restaurants in my opinion and not a negative. There is a public parking lot nearby so it's pretty convenient to dine in the area as well. We came for a family dinner and in total, we had half ac hicken (yellow), wet scrambled eggs with shrimp, seafood tofu claypot, peking pork chops, and French-style beef stir fry. We ordered their HK style milk tea which we pretty much liked. It had a nice bitter taste to it and the taste was quite smooth as well. Worth a try for their HK style milk tea. For their food, I think I liked the Peking pork chop the most out of everything. Freshly made, it had a good mix of meat-solo pieces as well as bone pieces, and the sauce was pretty delectable - sour, sweet, and salty. The meat was tenderized nicely so it wasn't chewy, but not overly tenderized that makes you feel like you are eating fake meat. Nicely executed on the pork chops and would come again for it again for sure. The second best was the seafood tofu claypot as the fried tofu inside it was nicely done. Decent customary additions of seafood (shrimp, white tilapia, and squid), thinly sliced carrots, and salty slurry - nicely made overall. The average item for me were the chicken and the wet scrambled eggs with shrimp. Customary items to get when dining out and they weren't bad, but they were just about the same everywhere else. The egg they had was "wet", but it was cooked with too high of a heat so its appearance was affected. A tad saltier than I want it to be, but oh well. Still a nice solid item to have when dining out. Lastly, the French-style beef cube stir fry was kind of the worse. The beef was a bit overly tenderized in that it does make you think it's fake meat and hard to say it amounted to anything flavor-wise. It didn't have a good strong beef flavor and the taste was just a bit bland-ish aside from the salty flavors. So, not really a solid pick from here. All in all, decent food based on what we chose to eat. I wouldn't mind coming back again just for the peking pork chops, because they were just that nice. I saw several other items that people were dining on and they looked quite appealing as well. So, worth a try to formulate your own opinions! Even if it's not what you like, at least you aren't breaking the bank to give them a try! Their price-point is pretty decent for their quantity so for sure not a bad thing! Awww

Food: decent, goodPortions: BigPrice: fairService: decent for a Chinese restaurant lolAtmosphere: simpleCame in today for a quick bite. Generally I come here for the other food, but need to go soon. Ordered the beef wonton noodle soup. It's not good. Wontons are hard and chewy. Noodles are chewy as well. Flavor is not tasty. I would not suggest it. There are much better wonton noodle place. They're other foods are ok.

Service was great and attentive, super helpful and friendly! Salt & Pepper Chicken was flavored PERFECTLY, not too salty and the texture was amazing. This was probably the favorite thing I ordered. Shrimp and Eggs... I don't know how they make something so simple taste SO good. It's just shrimp and eggs but I would literally eat this everyday!! They serve your meal with rice and you can share it with your table. But man I highly recommend the shrimp and eggs. They eggs are slightly undercooked so it's so soft, fluffy and melts in your mouth. The shrimps are medium to large size and juicy! Overall perfect flavor for any time of the day.Parking: there are lots everywhere and isn't difficult to find. This location is smacked in between a bunch of cafes and dessert shops and is easy to find. Great authentic chinese food, love it!

I recommend this restaurant. Most of the time, there is no wait whenever we go for lunch or dinner. But they do have a lot of take out ordersThis Bay Cafe had been our go-to for dine in and take out. The food overall is good and price is better than other places. We recognize almost all the wait staff - a few regular guys and couple of ladies.Recently they have come up with an all-day dine-in-only menu. Price is excellent and we usually order the same few dishes - steamed tilapia, cauliflower with garlic and satay glass noodles hotpot. We like their red bean ice drink also. Regular price only. A bit hefty imo. But lately they have been giving less red beans. One of the regular waiters has requested more beans for me as a frequent customer. But the other waiter (shorter) and newer to me would not increase the amount of red beans. So we stop ordering that. Not all dishes are good to my taste. But the ones we like and order all the time have stayed on par with quality.Parking: Maybe more difficult to find parking in the public parking garage during weekends due to nearby restaurants.
