Brass Rail Reviews
Used to come here with my grandparents 50 years ago. Is better than I even remember. Food top notch, service superb. Atmosphere perfect. Best meal i had during the week I was in town.
It felt very cozy. We were served soup and a small bottle of red wine before the meal, and the server was very friendly. I really liked the atmosphere.
Hidei was the best, I had the lamb chops, mint jelly and fries.

The Brass Rail in Alturas, CA is a family-owned bar and restaurant that is a local favorite. The beef is described as the "most delicious, juicy, and well-priced," with the owner personally overseeing the butchery and service. The bartender, Amber, is praised for being friendly and funny, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The restaurant offers a varied menu, including a "five-course meal" and a family-style menu with bread and butter, soup, salad, and a daily dish, followed by an entree, wine, coffee or tea, and ice cream for $35. Customers report feeling at home and enjoying the "impeccable service" provided by the family. The Brass Rail is known for its generous portions, particularly the "large, generous portion of steak" on the steak sandwich, as well as the perfectly cooked "fried chicken (no breading)." The rib steak is flavorful with a great sear, and the lamb chops are cooked as requested. The food is worth the money, with traditionally cooked Great Basin and Basque dishes. With a comfortable setting, delicious food, and friendly staff, the Brass Rail is a must-visit destination in Alturas.
