Went for the first time with a group that recommended it, but our entire group ended up leaving disappointed. Won't be back. Should have been a sign for us when the restaurant was nearly empty at dinner time. Food: Half the table ordered burgers and half ordered from their sister restaurants - chicken sandwiches and sushi. I even asked if the server would recommend the sushi compared to the burger... and then it was extremely sub par. Looked and tasted like day old (maybe even two day old?) grocery store sushi. Couldn't finish it. Rest of the group got burgers that were very mediocre, especially compared to the price. Was not impressed. The sides of fries were also pretty small and when we asked for sides of truffle ketchup and other sauces for our table of five our server returned with only two... and then was too slow to ever bring more. Fries and the buns on the burger did not taste fresh. Another server came by with some new concept tacos for us to try and they were just fried taco shells with fried shrimp and tartar sauce... lacking flavor and just tasted stale. Definitely did not encourage us to try them again. Service/cleanliness: There was only one server and she was nice, so I give her grace, but despite there being only two other parties in the restaurant she was not attentive. We never received utensils or napkins (had to walk behind the bar to get them ourselves). Food came out very slow... some drinks coming after we finished our meal. Plenty of other restaurants nearby that I would pick over this one.. or even some fast food burgers over this place for the flavor and value.

bring back Adam Fleischman cause im still hungry! on a more serious note i had umami tonight and will probably get it again...HOWEVER, the food is NOT the same due to a change in chef and recipe within the last year or so. don't know if they even went to trouble of letting any of Adams die hard customers know...oh well. it's obvious imo quality went down a bit. but like i said i ordered some tonight when i really just wanted in n out.

Parking: Limited street parking and lot parking in the Anaheim Packing District. Food: I rarely crave burgers but Umami is one of the 2 burger places I ever crave. My favorite combo is the garlic burger with some sweet potato fries! Ambiance/Service: Probably the most annoying ordering process I've ever experienced. They don't accept in-person to-go orders so you need to order online. Website was buggy so I had to download the app to place my order. Took off one star solely because of the complicated ordering service.

They do not honor Open Table reservations anymore. No points will be awarded. Since there is new ownership the menu has changed and my favorites has disappeared. I do not like the changes the new owner had made and the food is not nearly as good as before.

Came in the other night with my partner 9/30. Greeted at the front, wanted to sit outside, no big deal. They guy taking us out told us to pick a table. Picked a table that had a few crumbs on it and just asked if he could wipe it down. He did and was clearly annoyed by it (the other tables around all had stuff on them so any table we picked would have needed to be wiped down). He told us he would be back with some waters and also told us about a QR code that had sushi and chicken on it or something like that (he seemed unsure about it as well), but that it hadn't been working all day. We sat for awhile. A party of 4 came out about 8min or so min later. We still hadn't gotten out waters, he never came back. He greeted the party of 4. Got their order and made eye contact with us and walked right back inside. By this point it had been about 15min. We got up and left and he just looked at us while we left. Horrible service obviously. Not sure what we did to piss this dude off.

We went here before the AHS homecoming game at 5pm on a Friday. There is absolutely no parking! There were very few customers in the restaurant. I think our server must have been new because he was a little scattered. He was nice though. It was happy hour so the food was a really reasonable price but the drinks, not so much. They were out of the $5 beers that were on the happy hour menu so a glass of 805 cost $11! and a small vodka soda cost $11 also. At first the server input my drink wrong and their system charged me separately for vodka ($11) and soda ($3) . What? For 2 of us our food only cost $24 but our drinks (we each had 2) cost us close to $60? What the heck? Overall, the burgers were really good and the fries too, but their drinks are over-priced. I would only recommend Umami Burger with the warning caveat of the over-priced/unavailable drinks.

Been a long time fan of Umami Burgers. Usually I go to the one in Santa Monica, but my friends and I decided to try the location in Orange as a study break for block exams. Food: 5/5 + Truffle Shuffle (3 burgers - Truffle, Original, and Umami, Fries with Miso Ranch) My friend and I split the Truffle Shuffle, which offered the best bang for our buck, allowing us to try the variety of delicious tastes and flavors, as well as save some money (broke med students currently.) I can definitely say that the combo is 100% worth it. Although I am a s***** for cheap burger bites like In-N-Out, there's something about the quality of Umami Burger's meat and sauces that make it worth splurging on. Here are the burgers ranked: 1) Truffle Burger - the best burger out of the trio! the truffle sauce just adds depth and decadence to the flavor; my friend and I kept wanting more 2) Original - it was a hard toss up (all the burgers were great) but I loved the smoky texture of the meat in this burger. It just paired deliciously with the fresh lettuce and tomato. 3) Umami - great but nothing to rave about compared to the others. The meat quality is soft and just melts in your mouth. Lastly, the fries! You have to get the fries with the Miso Ranch! I'm not usually a fan of ranch but the miso base just adds a touch of umami that makes it perfect for eating! I'm sad that they don't currently sell the sauce in a bottle because I would buy one for home. Service: 3/5 Service was fine but I think cleanliness could have been a bit better (hence I removed 1 star.) The napkins at our table were stained and the tables were sticky. In addition, the joint seemed understaffed.

Poor service. Waited 10 minutes to be seated. No one even greeted us at the front, which made us question if it was even open. After looking lost for 10 minutes, one of the waiters yelled across the room that she would be with us, while sitting with the other waiters who were all drinking at the bar with the bartender. We notes that several tables had food that wasn't cleaned up, despite us being the only ones in the restaurant at the time. It seems they are busy drinking and too busy to even clean the tables while no one is even there. When we got seated, the waiter gave us the menu then started eating his lunch at the bar, so we did not even ge to order for another 10-15 minutes. While discussing whether we should leave or not, a different waiter came by to save the first waiter. I think this is only because we were thinking about leaving after waiting so long. Food was ok, but waiters were overall unprofessional. You could hear them talking about us in the back and laughing with their coworkers, while the food took 30 minutes to be served (only one order of truffle shuffle). There was only two different tables at the time. I wouldn't come again. Please read the previous reviews about poor service before deciding to eat here.

Shoutout to Daniel for the great service! This is an update to my previous review (from a 3 to. 5). Came into today and the service experience was a complete 180 from last time. I had the Bacon Ranch burger with Avocado which I think might become my go to. I did want to update this review mainly because Daniel was super attentive, and took good care of us for our visit.

There was one guy working there (lots of enthusiasm), and another in the kitchen...they needed more help! Anyway, I got a yuzu kaya hand pie, which was not worth getting. It's just jelly filling, nothing too special. So I recommend avoiding that.

Not the same as it used to be, they lost all flavor. The burger patty was the only thing that showed some flavor. I used to get the impossible burger but now you must pay extra for fake meat. My wife got a sushi roll and the rice that they used was hard and didn't even stick together (my guess is days old rice)... might as well have just been shrimp and cucumber wrapped in seaweed because it all falls off once you touch it. The chicken sandwich she got was way better the next day after taking it out of the fridge compared to how it tasted "fresh". Overall I was disappointed, especially when it was something that sounded so good to me prior to arrival. Only saving grace was the brewery next-door so I was able to drink my sorrows away. That's why it gets 2 stars.

I had been wanting to try Umami Burger for years and finally made the trek to the Anaheim Packing house district and gave it a shot. As has been mentioned by many reviews, service is amateurish at best and inattentive at worst. However the food is the star, cheesy potato tots are highly recommended. The togarashi fries are excellent if you like spicy fries. The dipping sauces are a nice variety of different flavors for your fries. The burgers are not typical Americana and are very tasty! The place would have gotten five stars had service been on par with the high prices but unfortunately they need to improve the guest experience. I will be back but it's more of an occasional indulgence than a regular spot in my book.

Very good burger. Not much else I can say. I wouldn't change anything about it. Nice vibe as well.

The burger box is legit, the service was attentive, and I enjoyed the drink selection.
