Akami Sushi is a charming sushi spot located in the 626 area. The restaurant offers a nice variety of dishes, including the deluxe sushi set and chirashi. The blossom roll, wrapped in soy paper with shiso leaves and plenty of fish, is a must-try. The sashimi deluxe set is fresh and fulfilling, with a good selection of fish. Customers praise the quality of fish, noting it is much better than expected for a small shop, with nigiri prepared impeccably and little to no fishy taste, even with mackerel.
The staff is very friendly and attentive, providing excellent service. Customers can opt for the omakase, available in two levels - $100 and $150. While the difference isn't always clear, the $150 "boss level" omakase is described as the best $150 spent, with most dishes being almost perfect. The food and service are highly appreciated, with dishes like the sashimi set and the mentaiko mazmen (noodles with cod roe sauce and truffle oil) receiving special praise. The crispy rice with spicy tuna is a popular appetizer, and the shio ice cream and matcha cream brûlée make for a sweet ending, although the matcha was a bit watery.
The ambiance of the dining room and sushi bar is clean and pleasant, with soft background music that creates a relaxed atmosphere. The interior is beautiful and well-maintained. Parking can be limited, but street parking is usually available. Due to limited seating, there may be a wait during weekends, but many find it worth it. Overall, Akami Sushi remains a favorite spot for delicious sushi in town, whether for a casual dinner or celebration.
