I would like to come back to try their punch puffs. Their milk tea cookie is phenomenal!!! I would come back to try more cookies as well. The texture of the cake is light and flavors are unique, but I’m just not a big fan of cake, so I would only come back for the cookies and puffs.

The service could not have been any nicer. So pleasant. I drove quite a ways to get here, and I was not disappointed. Finally something exciting and refreshing instead of the same old flavours. I had the black sesame cheesecake, and a chocolate Hong Kong cookie. I had never had anything like it before. I really hope this place keeps doing well, because the food is really special.

5/5 Vegetarian here (gelatin-free cake review included): There's not enough words to describe how much I love Patisserie Bluejay. The family and team behind this bakery puts so much love and passion behind their desserts. I've stopped by on numerous occasions and ordered everything from cookies, cream puffs, caneles, sliced cakes (they contain gelatin), and full sized birthday cakes. Everything was tasty and not overly decadent! Small desserts: My friend and I stopped by before closing recently, and purchased a cake (tiramisu, gelatin-free), several cookies, and cream puffs. We probably looked super delighted by our haul and that it was close to closing, so they threw in caneles on the house. Our favorite was undoubtedly the cream puffs, but everything was great! We were told to heat up the caneles and they were definitely much better than having them cold. Birthday cakes: Last year, my family ordered a gelatin-free strawberry cake for my birthday, and it was absolutely delicious! However, on the day of pickup, they had confused our order with another customer's order, so we received a 6 inch instead of the 7 we inch cake we ordered. They were incredibly apologetic and offered to gift us other cakes or treats. Most recently, I ordered another gelatin-free cake but asked if they could do a different flavor since we have already ordered the strawberry version before. They immediately accepted and started recipe testing a Pistachio Dacquoise. I was looped in this entire process and saw their dedication to perfecting their recipes and products. The pistachio cake was truly tasty and not like anything I've tried before! They made the cake layers out of meringue so it tasted like cookie more than sponge cake, so it was also gluten free! I loved that they paired raspberry with the pistachio, so the fruit would cut the richness of the cake and not be too heavy. They thought the cake could be sweeter, but we definitely felt like there was no need! We actually preferred the cake day 2 & 3, since the layers got softer in the fridge (more like a soft American cake), so we think that if they wanted to create a sponge cake version of this cake, I'm sure it'll also be in hot demand. For the vegans, they mentioned a vegan cake may be in the works so keep checking back! I have full faith whatever Patisserie Bluejay comes up with will be delicious!

tried the delicious slice of mango yuzu cake. the flavors of each layer stands out and it's not too sweet! also got the matcha white chocolate chip cookie which was good after microwaving it at home for a few seconds. definitely want to come back to try other flavors of their slice/mini cakes because they're so unique and interesting! plenty of parking in the plaza shared with other stores including the 99 cents store, bon appetea and the new hyped up 626 ice cream shop

My friend and I wanted to get 626 ice cream on a Sunday afternoon, but since it doesn't open till 7 pm, we decided to give this place a try. I wanted to try the pistachio cookie and my friend wanted the cream puff and canele, didn't see any in the display case so we asked and turned out they were still making it. Always good to ask if you don't see something in the display case! I just got the pistachio cookie.. which was $4, not surprising since everywhere cookies are about this price now. My friend ordered the strawberry cookie, milk tea cookie, milk tea canele, regular canele, cream puff and some other cakes. I really enjoyed the pistachio cookie! It was crispy on the edge and chewy in the center with bits and whole pistachios. My friend liked the strawberry cookie, but wasn't a fan of the milk tea cookie, milk tea canele and the cream puff. It's a cute little place with a few tables and seats inside for you to enjoy your desserts. Parking is in a lot with plenty of spaces

Their caneles are great and they have introduced new flavors like matcha and black tea! We also got their 福袋 crepe cakes recently which were great and nice for my sister whose birthday was around the lunar new year! Can't wait to check out some of their newer cakes when they aren't back ordered! The 福袋 was a holiday special so they don't have it anymore but I hope they do something for upcoming Asian festivals / holidays! Their site has a cool chart for picking the best cake type you want etc. definitely something that stood out to me as an engineering major!

I never knew that this pastry place was in the small shopping area that I passed by daily until my friend told me about it. The shop itself is really small and cute. They don't have a huge selection, but what they do have, they do very well. We got lots of things to try, but my favorites were the sesame cookie, pistachio cheesecake, and the Punch Puffs. Although their cakes are delicious, I do think the cake slices are a little overpriced at about $7.50, but I do think the cookies and puffs are worth the $4 and $4.50. The cookie had good flavor and the perfect chewiness I like in a cookie. I definitely will come back for the puffs, they were amazing. They are crispy on the outside, full of delicious vanilla custard on the inside that they pipe in when you order. If you want to try an amazing custard puff, give this place a try.

The cake presented beautifully! It was for my sister's milestone birthday, and this bakery didn't disappoint. I was impressed by the delicate, well-balanced flavors. Yuzu can have a strong aftertaste, but it was executed very well here. Quality ingredients, not a ton of artificial flavors or sugar as far as I can tell. As for service, it's a 10/10 for me. It's a busy bakery, but that's pretty normal in LA. The person I corresponded with made a very kind exception for my ordering lead time. Since I was already there, I picked up two "sunny side up" s'more cookies and I'm SO glad I did! Perfect chewy texture in the center--thicker than your average cookie, and I can't wait to try all the other flavors. I ate it so damn fast, I didn't even have time to take a photo. LOL. Clean, modern space. Pick-up only. My only recommendation would be for them to create some line queues to help with the traffic. Worth a revisit.

I've bought their cream puffs, cake slices, and cookies. Literally some of the best I've ever had. 10/10 would recommend!!!

My mom's friend recommended this place for pastries and cakes and I will be coming here more often. Patisserie Bluejay is located in the corner of the Arcadia strip mall, which has 1919 Lanzhou Noodle and 99 Cents store. There is plenty of parking but the area itself is not the best. This pastry place opened tail end of last year and the chef is from Hong Kong. Since my parents are both from Hong Kong as well, my tastebuds are very similar to theirs, in the sense that I prefer less sweet desserts but great texture. This place really hit the spot for me and I'm glad I ordered some stuff here! When I arrived, I was met by friendly employees that all spoke Cantonese (my second language!). It felt like home and I really enjoyed the ambience. I ordered the following items: 1) Punch Puff - 8/10 Dang, like the male co-owner said, this cream puff is definitely unique. Unlike Beard Papa where the outer shell is soft, once you bite into it, the shell is hard and crunchy. It's very light which helps you to be able to focus in the filling inside. The filling was lighter and not as sweet, which I enjoyed. Tbh the outer shell is a bit dry but still really good. 2) Matcha Canele - 10/10 This surprised me the most as visually, it doesn't look good. I've had Canele before but this was surprisingly sooo delicious. The texture was hard yet spongy, and the flavor was amazing. My only comment is I wasn't really able to taste the matcha but I really liked this. Basically don't judge a book by its cover, this applies to food too. 3) Oolong & Peach Cake Slice - 7/10 Wow! If you LOVE drinking oolong tea, you will fall in love with this cake. Once you bite into it, it's super soft and literally has a strong scent and flavor of oolong. Since oolong is quite strong, I'm glad the peach pudding/gelatin helped offset the flavoring. The combination of the two was delightful. I will definitely be coming back and want to try the other different cakes and cookies as well. More people need to know about this place!!

Been a loyal to this place since they opened. Love them so much, already referred many of my friends and they all became loyals as well. Yummy and beautiful desserts, love their innovatives. There's a new flavor for me to try every once in awhile. Courteous customer service. Please keep running this place so I can have good desserts close to home.

4 1/2 Stars 2/3/2024 Was excited to check out this new bakery due to all the glowing reviews! Went yesterday not long after it opened. PUNCH PUFF Read good reviews on their version of a cream puff. I say their version because it seems their punch puff is not a traditional choux pastry, as they add an almond topping. Disappointingly, their choux pastry was very dry and super crunchy. That is what I got with each bite. If it wasn't for the vanilla pastry cream that created a barrier from all the crusty, dry, crunchy choux pastry, this would have been really, really bad. Although it's more bad than good. The vanilla cream filling was good and I wished there was more. I did buy an extra and tried it after it was stored in the fridge and it tastes better after the cream puff has softened. The pastry cream does taste eggy compared to it being eaten the day before. However, I would not recommend their punch puff. I've had better cream puffs or crispy cream puffs (Choux au Craquelin) at other bakeries in LA. CAKES All the cakes were delicately made and because of the gelatin fillings and jellys on top, it was a jiggly cake. All were very delicate and light in sweetness, as most Asian cakes would taste like. All were very delicate and feminine cakes. Most of these cakes had sponge cake on the bottom, pastry cream or cream, then a gelatin-flavored middle, and then topped with a decorative jelly. Please refrigerate as soon as possible! All of the cakes started melting on my way back home! There was so much traffic too, so I had an even longer drive back home! So I had to eat them right as I got home. The cakes started losing shape; cakes were no longer standing, but leaning to the side like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. PEAR OSMANTHUS CAKE You can taste the pear upfront with soft pear pieces in between. Very delicate, layered cake with sponge cake, cream, and jelly on top. You can taste a bit of the osmanthus in the back, but the pear is the star of the show. ROSE AND LYCHEE Beautifully decorated cake! Love the details of the jelly on top with edible gold leaf sheets and dried rose petals inside the jelly. You can taste both the rose and lychee and neither one was overpowering the other. Vanilla spongecake, cream and jelly. OOLONG PEACH You can taste the strong oolong tea and a hint of peach in the background. Yet the oolong flavor is strong. Anyone who loves oolong will enjoy this cake. JASMIN CHOCOLATE This had a jasmine tea and milk chocolate combo. Most of it had gelatin in it. A very thin layer of cake on the bottom, while the rest was chocolate and jasmine flavored gelatin. Almost this soft mousse-like texture due to the cream, yet it did have that gelatin texture as well. Was really hoping to try their black sesame cheesecake duet cake slice and their canelé, but they were unavailable. Out of all the cakes I tried today, I enjoyed the Jasmin Chocolate the most, then the Rose Lychee cake. BLACK SESAME COOKIE Very good! The black sesame flavor was all there! I was really impressed! A thick, buttery, soft cookie with a light crunch on the outside. There were gems of black sesame sugar shards inserted on top, which made it even better! This was my favorite out of the two cookies. However, cookie becomes more softer when you eat the next day. Keep that in mind. Texture change does make or break a cookie. MATCHA COOKIE The matcha cookie had a similar cookie texture as the black sesame cookie. It was also thick and soft. There were loads of matcha flavor in it, which was also sweet and floral. The white chocolate morsels added a sweetness to it. This was good! AMBIANCE / SEATS / LOCATION Located in a run-down strip mall in Arcadia. Inside, there is a table of 4 and a table for 2. The metal tables and chairs are not the coziest nor aesthetically pleasing to dine indoors. There were some plant decorations, but it's not Instagrammable. CUSTOMER SERVICE The woman at the counter took all the orders while the owner and pastry chef worked behind in the kitchen. Customer service was okay. She wasn't particularly frien
