What a great find while stopping in Grover Beach. I wanted Chinese food (and not Panda Express). And found Golden Moon Restaurant. A old converted house with an amazing Chinese decor inside. The dining room had a wall of hide sliding glass doors showing a beautiful garden outside. Authentic Chinese music playing inside. This is a family owned business and they are extremely sweet. Their lunch menu has a lot of choices and they Kung Pao Chicken was great. I highly recommend Golden Moon, and enjoy!

Came here recently on probably my 3rd visit over the course of several years so I'm not a regular but it definitely was not as I had remembered. While the atmosphere is nice the food left so much to be desired. Now we don't often order soda when at a restaurant but this time I thought I'd splurge on a $2.50 coke. My husband said he'll have the same. Then we heard the opening of cans in the back and out came canned soda in a glass. It would have been nice to know somewhere on the menu. Yes there's a big difference in taste between fountain and canned. $5 for two canned cokes, no thank you. Lesson learned. I guess I need to ask from now on. Then out comes the sides. Our chow mein noodles and fried rice. It was then we remembered they did this before. Sides are brought out before the entree. Not our preference but there they sat until the entree arrived. Chow mein was only enough for two servings. One serving for each of us and not much more. Fried rice was as basic as it got and lacked flavor. As for the General chicken, flavor was nice BUT it was 98% breading. No exaggeration. And the 2% is just benefit of the doubt. I mean, there has to be some chicken in there right? But we were hard pressed to find it. We were literally baffled that they would pass off all this breading for general chicken. So we ate our basically all carb dinner and left hungry. I hate to leave unsatisfactory reviews for family owned establishments but in a time of inflation and the state of this economy, people are paying more for less and being more selective on where and how they spend their money. This was unacceptable. Two stars for atmosphere. That's about it.

The food is consistently good. Service is average when dining in. We normally get it to go. Located in a converted house, it has a quaint and comfy ambiance.

horrible experience . I had an online order . I went to pick it up and they refused to give me the order . clearly discrimination . as I was walking back to my car an elderly Chinese lady who works there followed me out and yelled across the parking lot calling me a liar . that happened . then as I sat in my car they called me on my phone , and all i could hear was breathing , they wouldn't answer me when I said hello and told them it's being recorded . I could see them peeking out the window at me as they ignored me on the phone . then they gave me my order , still rude and reluctantly . this was all recorded and going on YouTube and tiktok this weekend search the restaurant name .

Love this restaurant, best Chinese food in the Five Cities, South SLO county. Wifey usually gets dinner combo A, and I have either General Tso's or orange chicken or Sweet N Sour pork or Chicken. The family that runs this restaurant are pleasant, friendly and accommodating.

The food here was very good. I love the potstickers and the bbq beef here. The service here is always good. The seating inside on one side of the restaurant is very well decorated. Outside this place kind of looks like a dump but the food here is so good. A lot of places on the same street are in older buildings. This is my favorite Chinese food place in Grover and Arroyo Grande,

Came in here on a weekday. Kim was really nice. Sat at a nice window booth, place was very clean. Great lunch specials for the price, portions were amazing and the food was delicious. Great ambiance and plenty of parking. We will be back

OK, fellow Chinese lovers, let me tell you the background to Chinese food in my family. Very seldom do we go eat Chinese food out in restaurants. For our family, Chinese food is for when you're sick. As a matter of fact, back in Thousand Oaks, a headache could sometimes mean someone was sick and we could order Chinese food. There was a place there that the food was fabulous and close to us. Now you have the backstory. We moved to Nipomo and have not been able to find a good Chinese restaurant at all. At least not as good as what we had back in Thousand Oaks. But yesterday I was pretty sick. And my hubby felt like Chinese food would be the cure all. So we'd actually eaten at the Golden Moon a couple of times previously, and the food was OK. The place felt very Chinese restaurant like, it had the dragons and the Buddha, you understand, very traditional feel, etc. Onto last night. My husband called in an order. It was for a large wonton soup, king po chicken, house special noodles, and Mushu pork. The person who answered the phone told hubby the food would be ready in about 20 minutes. Hubby said no problem and got there and was then told that he must've placed an order at a different restaurant. Because they didn't have his order. He then had to prove to them that he ordered at their restaurant by showing them his call log on his phone so they could see the phone number that he dialed was theirs . Essentially, they called my husband a 'untruther' and that didn't sit well with me. But there ya go, so he went ahead and ordered the food. They gave him a pot of tea to drink, while he sat there. OK, well let it go. Mistakes happen, And I would have. However, when the food actually got to the house, I opened the Mushu pork and found that it smelled like a dead animal. Even through the box! I could smell that it was off. I've had Mushu pork before. It's usually a savory and sweet concoction of the pork with the cabbage and the sweet sauce with the pancakes. This gross mess they put into this little box was just like something that you would find on the roadkill side of the road. It made me ill to my stomach. So that went to the trash. So would I ever recommend this restaurant? No. I don't know what they served us, but I certainly think it was spoiled food. The smell was abysmal and putrid. Never in my life have I left such a bad review. I'm usually the happy kind of reviewer that says nice things about restaurants. If the restaurant is mediocre, I let it go, and I don't even do a review. But this time, I don't want people getting sick. And I hope that the health department reads my review and goes and check this restaurant out.
