Kim Tar Restaurant Reviews
If you like duck this is the place for you! Very delicious! There chow fun not so much, it doesn’t taste like anything?! I really hate that I bought two plates. There filet mignon was good. The crispy duck (Peking) you have to call a day ahead, it’s made to order.
A must come for those that are looking for Teochew Chinese eats. They’ve got anything you could possibly imagine. All the delicious comfort foods and savory flavors to tickle your taste palettes. Only way to know is give it a try. Since everyone seems to be a food critic nowadays, but I’m sure they have something there that will bring back a memory that you’ve grown up eating.....✌️

Kim Tar Restaurant is a popular spot for families and friends, offering good food at reasonable prices. With speedy service, visitors can enjoy a meal quickly. While the atmosphere is not a major draw, the restaurant's kid-friendliness is a plus, with noisy children not bothering other diners. Menu highlights include roast duck, BBQ pork egg noodle soup, and other Chinese dishes, with options like special chow mien soft noodles and deep-fried tofu. The roast duck egg noodle soup, priced at $14, comes in a large bowl with four chunks of roast duck breast, offering great value since a whole roast duck costs $32 to go. The noodles and soup are flavorful and authentic, reminiscent of Cantonese taste found in Vietnam. The shop also sells BBQ meats to go, including duck, chicken, and pork, which are highly recommended. Other dishes like chow fun are praised for their umami aroma and tender beef. BBQ rice options include BBQ pork and soy sauce chicken, both of good quality, with the cabbage pickle adding a nice touch. Service is very good, and the restaurant tends to be quieter after lunch when many tables are empty. It is a reliable spot for delicious duck, affordable and always satisfying, with friendly staff. Although the food is good, it may not be very special to everyone's taste, but many find it worth the drive to avoid more expensive and less friendly options in Irvine.
