Well, my husband and I finally got to eat at Oakhouse and we can’t wait to go back!! We’ve dined at some of the finest restaurants in the USA, and many many other Countries, and we put this on the list of restaurants we will keep going back to. The service was timely, helpful, and so nice/fun! The food was perfect, steak exact and the portions are so big. The restaurant’s ambience is lovely, great design and lighting and although it was packed I could still hear our conversation!! It’s so nice to have another great restaurant in our wonderful little town, I felt like I went to the city for the night!

We were able to get in on Valentine's day for a multi course experience. Very very good right down the line. Don't miss the cocktail lounge in the basement.

We visited on a Saturday evening and were disappointed from the start. Our server walked past our table multiple times without acknowledging us and spent much of the time standing near the bar window. After a long wait, we were finally able to order drinks and food.
We started with the bread and shrimp cocktail. Unfortunately, several of the large prawns were undercooked. I ordered the halibut, which was dry, and to make matters worse, I found a hair in my mashed potatoes. My partner ordered the Wagyu steak special, but it tasted like a frozen steak and could not be cooked to the requested blue rare temperature. The mac and cheese side was overly buttery, with soggy breadcrumbs and very little flavor.
Throughout the meal, we had to wait repeatedly for water and soda refills, as well as for the check. Our server appeared more focused on other tables than his own.
I was really looking forward to having a great steakhouse in town so we wouldn’t have to drive elsewhere for dinner. Sadly, this experience was disappointing enough that we will not be returning and definitely not worth the $180 we spent.

Ok, I have to say. I’m old and have never left a review. I’ve never felt like any experience warranted it until now. I’ve dined at fine dining restaurants in NYC, Chicago, SF over the past 40 years. Oakhouse is on that level but in Auburn, which makes it a masterpiece. The difference is in the service. Our server Gwynn was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. The food was coursed perfectly and her wine recommendations were spot on. Not to mention she was very charming and a great personality ( don’t tell my wife). If you want the best meal in Placer county, please visit this place. I really hope the Auburn community supports this place.

The staff was amazing the only drawback is the menu is limited this is probably a me thing and probably not important to most but the menu lacked a starter salad to go with the tomahawk which was cooked to perfection

Had the most wonderful dinner tonight. The ribeye was perfectly cooked and the sauce elevated it. Loved the side dishes as well and my cocktails were excellent! The staff were so nice and attentive! Highly recommend for an upscale meal with a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The food was really good. Good service, my only complaint is they took my leftovers to put in a box and when I got home I realized they didn’t box my steak. I’m very disappointed I wanted to take half my steak home and it wasn’t boxed.

Absolutely loved dining at Oakhouse! The service was attentive without being intrusive. Waitstaff were knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The food was just incredible! Still thinking about the ribeye that was cooked to perfection. I would go back every night just to try the chefs creative vegetables and sides. Standouts were the beets, leeks, and a hearty varietal of mushrooms treated in such a delicate way…the best mushrooms I’ve ever had. When I expressed that to the server, the chef came by our table later with a box of mushrooms. He spoke to how they are locally sourced and how he prepares them. That truly was the icing on the cake for our dining experience at Oakhouse. Thank you chef Chris! We’ll be back soon!

Incredible new restaurant! Just went again on Friday, and once again everything was over the top! Hannah is so sweet, the food was amazing, and the wine selection was fabulous! Kudos to the entire team! We can’t wait to go back (soon!).

For $85 I expected a bit more from my ribeye, the meat was just okay. $5 for a (very) small loaf of bread and everything else ala carte. Kind of ridiculous.

It was ok… but not for the money unfortunately. Hopefully they will improve with time. Not sure if it’s different ownership or whatever but it’s about the same as the old business Tap and Vine and whatever it was called before that. The menu is decent but not not well executed. The service seemed to be all unsure high school kids.
