The Brimstone restaurant within the Padre Hotel is in a great location, central to several entertainment venues, which makes it a great place for dinner. The food is good, the service was attentive, and for a bar type restaurant on a Friday night, the noise level was moderate.
The overall experience was not good unfortunately. Our server was decent but the bartenders and the kitchen was off. Ribeye and NY Strip were not medium rare, a lot of the meat was raw and inedible. Veggies overcooked. Sending plates like this back after waiting ruins dinner and it doesn't taste much better on a reheat/cook. When you order a double just to taste the drink and the bartender then makes it in a large glass so it tastes like the single in the short it makes no sense. Definitely, was not worth taking a date and spending over $150 to regret the entire meal.
We were referred by a friend that lives in Bakersfield that this restaurant is a neighborhood gem. Devin our server was helpful and delivered impeccable service. They carried non-alcoholic beer which was fantastic. Our starter was cilantro hummus served with crispy grilled pita bread. So delicious!Dinner was the Nashville hot sandwich and the Cubano . Both were delicious and we had to end with the toffee blonde brownie. So yummy! I highly recommend if you are in the area!
Great food, excellent service, ambiance was great. We had dinner here before an event at the Fox Theater. Not my first time here, certainly won't be my last. The lamb burger as well as the Elk burger are terrific!!

Lovely dinner!
I had a great dinner and the service was excellent.
Salmon was a bit well done. Pork belly app was really good. Wedge salad was great (as always). Oxtail Pappardelle was very good, but topped with a dollop of goat cheese - which (sadly) my wife can't eat. But, on the upside, I can. ;-)
We stayed overnight at the Padre Hotel and had dinner in the Belvedere Room. These are difficult times for restaurants, but they are clearly doing their best. The food was good, and the service very good. We particularly appreciated Charles, who was both personable and professional.
The angus ribeye was comparable to a steak from Vons. I'd recommend looking into one with more marbling rather than having a lean steak. Secondly, the asparagus was a tad gritty, like sand or dirt. Overall, the food was good, especially the mushroom risotto.

This hotel's rooms are unique, so pick carefully, especially if you are sharing a room with someone else. My room had see through glass to the shower & toilet. Not very private if sharing it. I was alone! Thank goodness!
Not really worth it. Good if you want to stay close to the hotel.
It was an amazing venue. Very classy and nice.
We had a reservation, arrived on time, only to be told they were closed and are not open except on Friday and Saturday nights. No apology with me holding the reservation in hand...except basically to say it was our fault for not calling and instead using Open Table. Also, no help in finding another place to eat!
The food was ok but I expected great the first night. The second night the air conditioning wasn’t working and I completely soaked my clothes sweating
