I've heard no so great things about this place but I'm glad I gave this place a chance. The food is delicious! They start you with chips, salsa & a special Portal dip that will leave you wanting more. Beans & chorizo kind of dip. Yummmmm! We ordered the Camarones Al mojo de ajo (garlic shrimp) but requested it a bit on the spicy side & let me tell you....it was perfection! The Chile verde chimichanga was stuffed with the Chile verde, it's packing heat so make sure you can handle spicy. They are not stingy with the portions & the service is on it. Super friendly. And the drinks & chips are never empty. A must try!

Service was great thanks to Enrique. Food was tasty and the valentines deal was an awesome price. Appetizer, 2 steak meals, a beer & margarita, and desert for $50. I don't like their bar area though. It's kinda sad and dingy.

the chili verde burrito might be the best in town. it's certainly the spiciest but not overwhelming for the American palate. their chili verde burrito is certainly the meatiest. it is all meat and contains no rice and beans. the burrito is moist and never dry. price is a good deal considering it is all meat.

We had the Mocajete mixto, it was incredible, perfect amount of spice and piping hot. The service was very prompt, our food was served in no time and the waiter brought us chips and salsa few minutes while we waited. The restaurant has just been remolded, and we feel like home.

So disgusted!! After a long while from eating at El portal, we decided to try it again when we got a return customer discount for 15%. We had it delivered and that was it.My wife took the lid off and it looked like rotten avocados on top of her food. She decided to just remove them and eat the rest of it, but it was hard to when she flipped it over and saw the bottom of them. So disgusting. The inside was just as bad as the outside.Then she went on to eat her bacon wrapped jalapeño peppers. They look like bacon wrapped jalapeños, stuffed with cheese and cockroaches. I'm sorry to say that we left this restaurant for a reason. We gave it some time and helped it would be better, but it looks even worse. Thanks but no thanks!!
