La Fonda Mexican Grill & Cantina

I was quite surprised to find such a nice little place to have lunch at in this area. The tacos and horchata was really good and prices are just right!

I was actually just walking down the street looking for a restroom that I could use (most of the antique shops I was shopping in nearby didn’t have a public one.) one of the kind ladies working on the patio outside overheard me talking about a restroom with my husband and invited us inside to use theirs! Bathroom was very clean. I ended up buying some food because the lady was so kind to me. Sopes were DELICIOUS! My hubby liked the tacos too! The new owners are awesome!!!

Recommend their comedy shows and drinks. Food good too ?

The torta is on par. Bringing La Fonda of Shafter to Bakersfield. Thank goodness.

Taco tuesday 1 dollar tacos, including asada. Staff was friendly and place was nicely setup. Will go back again

Server acted like she wanted to be anywhere but at work. Very unfriendly and poor service. Jad shrimp and beef fajita and a fish taco. Fish on taco was fried about 5 min past well done. Was crunchy and nothing else. Could not taste fish. It had no moisture. Fajita was the same. No flavor. Shrimp were boiled and just laid on top. No seasoning. Meat. No marinade, no seasoning. Tomotoes cooked beyond recognition onions were raw. Decent beans and rice.

Do NOT order online! I ordered 25 minutes before arriving, so that I would have plenty of time during my lunch break to eat and go hang around downtown afterwards. The wait time online said 15-25 minutes.... I received a confirmation via email too. When I arrived to the restaurant, the cashier immediately told us she didn't have my order, or my coworkers' orders which were all placed online.What was worse was that I even had to pay an online order fee, and although I eventually was able to order some food, they didn't serve me what I was supposed to get because I no longer had time to wait for the food I originally ordered! Pretty frustrating.Then, when my coworkers and I had finally sat down, the server/cashier forgot several items that made the experience worse. Each time we asked for the items she responded rudely and made us feel unwelcome.The food was decent, but not worth eating for the poor service we received.I'm sorry that there's a shortage of staff, but we did not deserve to be treated the way we were, having done everything necessary to have a good experience. It's also very unfortunate that we had to spend the majority of our lunch break waiting to eat food that we had ordered nearly an hour before. Hope this helps someone looking for a good place to eat downtown- this isn't the place.

The tacos were tasty and my 1 drink was inexpensive, but staff & servers were friendy & welcoming.

Went to an event this weekend and the bartender lady was very rude. She tried charging us double and was very rude about it despite the fact we had already paid. She was the short, slim, older Hispanic woman and refused to give us her name.

Good food great prices and the waitresses are really nice

Great place to dance and eat some delicious food! The Latin vibe was excellent, as the DJ played some awesome music to get you moving. There is a nice outdoor patio area to get some fresh air and chat with friends. Bartender made good drinks and gave us excellent service. We had a blast!

Friendly workers and okay prices. The beans were watery, the rice is okay, and the enchiladas were okay as well. Nothing special but the food isn't bad.
