Old River Grill at Brimhall Square

Hi, I went here for breakfast but the woman up at the front who seats people was extremely rude to me. Long story short, I was about to put my name down. I had just got done drinking my coffee (from elsewhere), so I had my empty cups in my hand to throw away. I threw them in their trash can only to hear this women immediately snap at me that "that was not the trash can." I never have been treated so rudely by a hostess in my life. I immediately asked to speak to the manager who was very kind. The manager wanted to reassure me that this would not happen again. At that point, I had made up my mind not to eat there. Strangely, I was assured that this was a bus lady and would not have handled my food if I ate there. Nonetheless, I decided to go elsewhere. The manager did assure me that this "bus lady" was wrong because that was the garbage can. It is a blessing that I did not eat there because Smitten (just a few miles away) turned out to be such a great experience. Sorry but if you choose to treat your potential customers like trash, trust me they probably will walk themselves out to the door and drive to Smitten. I don't regret going to Smitten because they are top quality, friendly, clean, and buy high quality ingredients. The Greek eggs were phenomenal! If I could give Old River Grill zero stars I would. 😟

Wonderful nostalgic place ♥️ Music ! Food Quality is on point. Hashbrowns are back to the 1960’sDiner style “yummy “ trip back. I noticed in Bakersfield; good dining places are rewarded with business, this place gets the business …. You may wait for a place if you hit peek market times.

You can never go wrong with breakfast here! Love the seasonal items and the staple items on the menu. Generous portion sizes and friendly staff. They even make waiting to be seated as pleasant as possible with water and coffee and bubbles for the kids to run around in (at least at the Brimhall/Calloway location)

I wanna give zero stars. Horrible service. The food was awful. The environment sucks. I've been here once before the pandemic and it was good/ better. Now it's Horrible and I even went again knowing I was disappointed last time. Green Acres Rosedale is full of a bunch of prejudice, entitled bigots so wherever you go in this part of town you're going to experience this. But, you should always receive good service and food. Not my experience here. Sad.

Brought my family of 3 to eat breakfast for Father’s Day showed up at 10:20 am was told it was going to be a 40 min wait. So it’s Father’s Day we understood it was going to take a while but we ended up waiting two hours and the worse thing is that other parties would show up later and they would get in before us ! They prioritize bigger parties, im assuming because of a bigger bill. Not only would they let bigger parties they let a couple of 3 ppl parties before us. I think the server got lost a bit on the list because she skipped it a few times to let bigger parties go that she forgot who came first for the small parties. We ended up getting our seat at 12 after signing in at 10:20 am !! A 2 hour wait so not recommend for small parties. I never leave reviews but this was so bad I hope the owner sees this and fixes this issue because I will no longer come here ! Too bad they took down broken yolk they had great service !

Pretty upset i just checked my bank statement my bill was 68.20 i wrote 70.00 on the card slip and we left cash my bank account is showing im being charged 81.84 then i look at the bill and i got charged another drink because i asked for a ice tea and was trying to not complain but the Dr Pepper tasted terrible plus the omelette was so cold the cheese didn’t even melt inside!Something not ethical with this place, i will be calling in the morning to get the owners number and i will never eat here again!

I recommend this place, the food is delicious, the service is very good, the Mexican man who is there is very friendly, we like to come often
