Born and raised in Bakersfield, Smiths was always the best, the thing I most looked forward to when returning home. I am so disappointed now that they are never open in certain locations when signs at that location say they are (as well as online) and when they are open the selection is abysmal. Went at 7am (they open at 6) to this location and they had 2 trays of donut bars. That was it. Brookside was not open at 630 (they open at 6), but had some cookies on display.
It’s the holidays, this should be their busiest time of year…why not prepare and accommodate for customers? Seriously rethinking my loyalty to Smiths after this trip home.
I mean, it’s tasty and yummy. But i dont know about $5+ a cookie yummy.

Smith's is a Bakersfield staple. I love their Champagne Cake. The employees are very sweet.
Smith’s Bakery is a gem of a place in Bakersfield, truly amazing. Everything I’ve had from there for the 25 years I’ve been going there has been nothing but the best. But my God, are they overpriced. They raised their prices dramatically during the pandemic, which I understand to a point. But now they appear to be arbitrarily raising prices just because. And it happens in such a short amount of time that it’s kind of pitiful. For example, they raised the price of a box of their thumbprint cookies by $2 in ONE month. What justifies THAT much of a cost increase in such a short period of time?
The smiley cookies are to die for! The thumb print cookies I used to love eating growing up but upon revisit, they’re not as good as I remember. Although these cookies are a classic to Bakersfield, they’re becoming extremely overpriced and for that I had to knock down my rating by one star. $2.49 for smileys and $0.99 for thumb print cookies… not to mention the decorated holiday cookies, those are upwards of $3.49-4.49 a cookie… Smith’s should at least consider offering a discount for purchasing the dozen or even bigger bulk of cookies at a time!
Best customer service at Ming, White ln, and Camino media locations ! Sad prices keep going up but so good.
Smith's Bakeries is the hidden gem of Bakersfield. They make the best cookies and cakes. The staff is nice. Highly recommend Smith's Bakersfield if you are craving something sweet!
Wonderful staff and delicious cookies. The best bakery in Bakersfield.
The bakery is awesome but the people working there are so rude. People should be happy it's CHRISTMAS. ???
The Smith's Bakery is located inside a Sully's gas station. Very friendly staff and a great selection. Store is always always well kept and clean and stock well. Would definitely recommend this location.

Always amazing!
Some of the best baked goods in town and always friendly staff
I love Smith's bakery I'm from Los Angeles we don't have bakeries like this out there. Maybe that's a good thing because I would be as big as a house cuz I would be eating there everyday I love their pink champagne cake and cupcakes so every time we're out here visiting family I make it a point to stop. I recommend this place a hundred times over
Wonderful staff and delicious cookies. The best bakery in Bakersfield.
Lack of taste. Uses too much sugar and fat on their cookies and very little flavors or texture.
