The atmosphere is great, but prices are high. One significant note, I ordered the panko crusted fried chicken sandwich once before and it was pretty tasty. However, I ordered it again yesterday, and it was the only thing I had eaten that day, ended up with pretty bad food poisoning, vomiting all night, still really weak today. The chicken definitely seemed fully cooked, I'm not sure what happened, but I haven't been that ill in a long time. Again, it was the only thing I had eaten that day so I can't imagine it being anything else. Will absolutely not be ordering it again.

I often stopped by Kapende while listening to Berkeley programs, but I can't quite get used to the taste of coffee. Since there was always only one employee, I didn't like taking a long time to take an order, make it, and give it back again and again. I gave it a low rating because I thought it was expensive for a school cafe.

Not sure if the sustainability claim is just a cover to charge 12$ for a sandwich and 5-6$ for teas and lemonades. Feels like an airport when I drop 25$ on a sandwich and a large coffee or tea. Tastes pretty good though
