Me and my boyfriend came here and ordered to go. In the middle of eating, we find a dead cockroach inside our containers. It was disgusting. We then went back to the place and asked for a manager which was a young man, after inspecting the food he just said “oh I’ll give you your money back” like if he wasn’t surprised, not even an apology or nothing, very unprofessional and disgusting. He offered us to keep the food I said no since my appetite was ruined. Never going back and just be careful!!! Not saying this to throw hate but instead to share awareness and warn others. Smh!

Ordered wontons in chili oil and eggplant with garlic for takeout. Wontons were incredible while the eggplant was tasty and sizable enough to save most for tomorrow's lunch.

I had the wonton with broth and the wonton in chili oil. Wontln in broth was NOOOOTTTT wonton and i know they had wontons because the chili oil wonton was actually wonton. The wonton broth was dumplings with 小笼包 (shanghainese soup dumpling) filling, which is good but definitely not what i wanted to eat tonight. Besides that, the broth was just saline water, so the dish to me was a big disappointment. However, serving was very good size, so if u like a fat bowl of soup dumplings in salt water for $10, this is for you.Now the wonton in chili oil. Theres no chili flakes nor flavors in the oil, so it was just wontons dumped in oil with no seasoning, so it was quite hard to eat as i just envisioned my veins getting clogged by the second and i had visions of my imminent death. It felt fattening. Again, wontons in oil. This is not how they do it in mainland nor taiwan, so i can confidently say this is also a disappointment.Service was ordinary and ambiance was ordinary too. They played nice mandarin and canto sad songs.

This used to be my go-to dumpling spot in Berkeley. It's accessible via numerous bus routes that go through Durant and located just a block off campus. Parking can be hard so be prepared for that. It can also be quite busy in the afternoon right when it opens for dinner so be conscious of that. Service is no-frills and very quick; I have no issue with this at all. I usually order the Shanghai-Style Steamed Pork Dumplings (pork xiao long bao), Shanghai-Style Pan-Fried Pork Buns, Combination Chow Mein/Fried Rice, and sometimes the Mapo Tofu or another dish on the menu. The food is consistently quite good and I usually look forward to coming here but after my last experience ordering takeout, it may be awhile. I'm so sad to say this because I loved Dumpling Kitchen so much and would take my out-of-town family and friends here all the time. My family ordered the Chicken Corn Soup and a few other items for takeout and brought them home. After getting to the end of the soup, I found that there was a dead fly in it. This was quite disappointing because I normally have no issue at all with the food. I may come back hoping that this won't happen next time I'm there, but for now, I don't know when that is.

My FAVORITE dim sum/Chinese restaurant in Berkeley! Everything tastes authentic, the pork buns 生煎包 tastes just like the ones I could get in shanghai. The soup dumplings are also amazing- I love using the vinegar, spicy oil, and soy sauce as a combination to use for the dumplings. The walnut shrimps and chinese beef burrito is amazing too!! I wish i could eat at this place everyday and it honestly tastes very authentic ;)

I have wanted to try dumpling kitchen for a while and I am glad I decided to visit for a random weekday lunch! My group ordered the hot and sour soup, vegetable bao, spicy wontons, and mapo tofu lunch special. The soup came out first and it was very nice and warming for the cold weather lately. The portion was also very generous, had to take some home. The vegetable bao were good, not super savory, but tasty nonetheless. The wontons were okay, not the best I have had. I wish they had more spice to them. The highlight though was the mapo tofu. I highly recommend this item because the seasoning and sauce is rlly good. The interior was larger than expected since they have another room with tables in the back, but be aware they only take cash and debit!

We were in the Berkeley area and decided to try Dumpling Kitchen for some Shanghainese food. After a short wait, we finally got seated and ordered Pork Xia Long Bao (XLB) (Shanghai-Style Steamed Pork Dumplings), Sheng Jian Bao (SJB) (Shanghai-Style Pan-Fried Pork Buns), and Dry-Braised String Beans. The XLBs were soupy but had a thick wrapper. They stayed firmly shaped as they were in the bamboo container when we picked them up with chopsticks. There was vinegar on the table, but they didn't come with any ginger. The SJBs were nicely browned at the bottom and garnished with green onion and black sesame seeds. However, they were somewhat dry inside. The Dry-Braised String Beans were not as blistered as we normally see in other restaurants. All three dishes were a bit light in flavor. Our experience here was just OK.

Dumpling Kitchen is a fantastic casual dumpling spot that neighbors the local university. I have been twice so far - once they took credit card and once it was cash/debit only. Further, once I ordered via QR code and once they took our order in person - so the inconsistency was weird and surprising.I usually slide in when I'm craving fresh XLBs or panfried dumplings. These are my auto go-tos when ordering here. They are reliably tasty and do in a pinch. Are they the best ever dumplings I've ever had? No but they hold their own and are fairly affordable for the area. Specifically, the XLBs are able to produce just over 3/4 of a soup spoons worth of soup which is commendable. Anyway, definitely recommend for your future quick dumpling cravings

Delicious! Not the largest space, but this doesn’t change the fact that it is worth a visit. Quick and efficient service and once again, very good food!

Came in around 7pm on a Tuesday night and it was pretty busy, but didn't have to wait to be seated. You order at the QR code from your table. Our food came out pretty fast. XLB: 4/5The skin was thin, the pork was well-seasoned, and the soup was delicious! Would definitely order again. Har Gow: 4/5 One came broken but nonetheless they were delicious. The shrimp filling is plump and the skin was pretty good. Be sure to have it with their chili crisp if dining in! Spicy Wontons: 3/5The sauce was pretty bitter. And tbh the spicy chili crisp at the table was tremendously better than the sauce the wontons came with. The pork filling was also dry. Would not order again. Would definitely come back to try more items!
