It was last minute and I needed a cake so I hadn't planned ahead. I called to ask what they had in their case. Brrrring-brrrring! There was a live voice, not a recording asking me 1) which location I wanted, 2) would I hold because they were helping other customers, and 3), to please leave a voice mail and they could call back later. Many really fine offerings at Hopkins Street Bakery. My favorite is the eclair - filled with very tasty vanilla creme patissiere, and covered with a high-quality chocolate icing. Also love their Coconut Pineapple cake - moist, unctuous, bright - a thing of beauty!
The bakery goods are ok but their mango cake is outstanding. Doesn't tastes like dried mangos, it's light and not too sweet. Perfection. Pro tip to call one day ahead just in case they don't have it the day of.
