The food here is as Indian as it gets! If you ever wonder what people in India eat on a daily basis, this comes very close. It's a very Punjabi affair!

Honestly, all things considered this is probably the best indian food you will find nearby UC Berkeley, at least at an affordable price. For $16 they have an all you can eat lunch buffet with solid quality. The service was also great and everyone there was extremely nice. Worth checking out if you're craving some indian food and can't make the trip to SF or South Bay.

Very bad food. I have been there with my International friends, and we had the worst experience. We ordered couple of dishes and all of them had same gravy. Malai kofta has been replaced with aloo kofta and has no taste at all. Naan were burnt.

Despite arriving late, our dining experience at Jot Mahal was a delightful journey through Indian flavors with a cosydhaba vibe. The Fish Pakoda, though slightly over-seasoned with chaat masala, offered a crispy and delicious start to the meal. Moving on to the main course, both the Kadhai Paneer and Dal Makhani shone with their freshness and rich flavors, accompanied by handcrafted, fresh Butter Roti. Lastly, the Salted Lassi provided a refreshing conclusion to the feast. Overall, Jot Mahal delivers a top-notch dining experience, especially recommended for those seeking authentic Indian cuisine in a cozy dhaba ambiance.Ratings:Fish Pakoda - 3.5/5Dal Makhani - 4/5Kadhai Paneer - 4/5Butter Roti - 4/5Salted Lassi - 4/5

Cute red building that offers one of the BEST lunch deals in the East bay. 14 Dollars for a full buffet where each item tastes as it it was specially prepared for you. Plus VERY veggiterian free. I had Taneer curry over Rice with a tandoori chicken leg, and I will be back.

I went there with my family to celebrate my husband birthday. I have no idea how they have 4.5 ratings from 500+ Customers. First the water jug was dirty. Food has no taste. Customer servie was Zero. We found hair on garlic naan. We ordered Biryani and it taste like fry rice. We asked for a plate and the guy was cleaning the table and he handed us the plate without washing his hand. NO HYGEINE. I love to eat Indian food but my husband doesn't because of this all. I never write a review but this time they ruined my husband birthday.

Stepping into this Indian restaurant in Berkeley on a chilly, rainy evening, my partner and I were immediately welcomed with warmth, both from the ambiance and the owner’s thoughtful seating near a heater. The service was outstanding, making us feel comfortable and valued. The culinary experience was exceptional. From the chicken tandoori to the richly flavored chicken tikka masala, aromatic rice, and soft garlic naan, every dish was delicious. The ingredients’ freshness and the reasonable wait time added to our enjoyable experience. We even enjoyed a complimentary dessert of rice pudding. This visit wasn’t just about dining; it was an experience of hospitality, warmth, and culinary excellence. We’re already looking forward to our next visit.

Pop by here on a whim with my daughters and discovered a cozy spot with good and spicy Indian food, and a super friendly owner, who ended up, showing us pictures of his daughters wedding, and was really nice to my daughters, and gave them free rice pudding for dessert! The portions were good sized the prices were reasonable and everything had a nice kick to it and was very flavorful. However, the restaurant could sure use some sprucing up and the carpeting on the floor is some of the worst I’ve ever seen in a restaurant but if you work your way around The corner it’s really cozy and woodsy highly recommended for the food, friendly service, not the atmosphere.
