Jot Mahal is by far my favorite Indian restaurant in Berkeley. The food is fresh and delicious, the owner and staff wonderfully kind and helpful, the environment sweet and relaxing. There's also a fantastic lunch buffet deal! I've enjoyed many lovely dinners there as well as takeout for lunch when I'm working at home.

I recently had the pleasure of eating at here the buffet blew me away. The food was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The staff were friendly and accommodating - they went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. We were visiting our son in Oakland and he took us to Jot Mahal Palace, his favorite Indian restaurant in the Bay Area. This is a family owned and operated business. It felt welcoming, clean and cozy. The food was fresh and delicious.Portions were a good size and a great value. Service was friendly and efficient. The Korma and Samosas were excellent. Wonderful Garlic Nan.We will definitely visit again next time we are visiting from Oregon.

Favorite Indian restaurant in Berkeley. Vegetarian Food is very good and garlic naan is the best. Unlimited lunch buffet is worth it, I come here almost every week because it is so nice. Somewhat pricy for dinner though

Love this place so much. The owners who run the place are so friendly and welcoming. The fresh garlic nan is so good. I've loved their lunch buffet and dinner meals every time. Such juicy and clean flavors. Also love the energy in the place itself. Also, the building was built around a tree and you can see the middle of the tree via windows which encase it- very cool. Volume levels are also so good for having conversation there. Good to go with a friend, date, or children.

Had a really fantastic meal at the lunch buffet this last Sunday! On the day we came in, the buffet was serving a few chicken dishes including tandoori chicken, Tikka Masala and chicken curry as well as a variety of vegetable dishes. Everything was super flavorful and impressive for the price. While I am no expert on Indian food everything I tried was good, and the 2 plate limit didn't leave me hungry or wanting more food at all. Will definitely be back soon and will be telling all my friends about this great place.

had the lunch buffet - very few choices of food (as shown in the photo) and the meat were dry. Service was also poor and the waiter was rude.

No frills Indian buffet restaurant and pocket friendlyGood things- all the curries were good, tasty and almost authentic. Roti/naan is flufy, made of whole wheat. One roti per person, additional charge for more. Which is pretty good, a normal person can eat one roti and some rice. No need to make it unlimited and charge everyone for that option. Kheer was good. Felt family owned and comfortable.Could improve - pakode were fried in old oil, you taste the old grease. Jamun had similar taste. No papad or good starter for vegetarians. No tea. Ice cream was included but machine was broken. The ambiance needs more investment and care.

Went for a Sunday Buffett, the spread hardly had 4-5 items. The food was very average. The place and ambience is not something where you want to actually sit and relax while eating. All you want to do is quickly get out.

Right place to go when looking for good food. Lamb Korma meat is so juicy it falls apart, and the chicken tikka masala has very kind flavor. Tandoori chicken is a nice spicy component and the naans are great.

Consistently great, adding new photos. Stopped by for a buffet lunch. Food was very good, especially the chicken tikka Marsala, chicken curry and the garlic naan. Recommended.

I absolutely love Jot Mahal. It was painful at first as they are in the same location as beloved Cha Am, but I am glad I finally tried them because now I am a regular. The lunch buffet is fantastic in both quality and price, and dinner menu is great as well. While I still miss Cha Am I am grateful they were replaced but such a wonderful restaurant!

I ordered shrimp tikka masala for to go, and the food was so good so I returned the next day again lol The owner was also so nice and the service was good too! I've lived around berkeley for so long but only used to get food near south side bc I was lazy.. def would come this place more and also would try lunch buffet with my friends later
