*Fyi before leaving a review I do try places 2 times prior to making a review* Love the noodle soup here. Everytime I am in Berkely I always stop here hungry or not. Its a small hole in the wall restaurant with very small tables that are cramped together. Its a nice place but the lack of room takes away from it. Wait times vary depending on what time you get there. Also, customers are very close by, standing in line staring at their phones or at you wating their turn to finally sit down. You order and pay on a tablet once seated. After trying almost everything on the menu, my go to is just the Beef noodle soup, spicy broth and thick noodles. It does not lack flavor and is never overly salty. The beef is always tender and noodles have the right amount of chew and taste fresh. On the side, the house wontons in chili sauce. A little salty and not really spicy in my opinion but flavorful with a good chew from the dough. Can be a little loud but once your food arrives I have noticed people stop talking to their companions and just eat. Good sign. This place is has always consistently good.

The beef brisket soup in the 8h broth was a 10/10, no notes. Right amount of spice and loads of flavour. It’s pretty big so we shared one. We also got the lamb skewers to go which were amazing as well. We reached 5 mins before opening on a Saturday and still had to wait about 15-20 mins.

Really yummy noodles!! A bit greasy but overall very quality ingredients and the beef literally fell apart in your mouth! Although it was a long wait, I think it was worth it!! Very large portions for the price.

How amazing is it to have a place like this right next to the university! Honestly, you should come here with two stomachs, because you’ll want everything at once. The portions are huge — like the chef personally decided, “You’re a student, you need to survive.” I’ve already been here twice, and I’ll definitely be back again, because the food is so good it makes you want to applaud with your spoon.

Ngl this was probably the best bowl of soup I've ever had in my life. The meat is extremely tender and falls off the bone, like what you see at high-end BBQ restaurants. The broth has a ton of flavor; it's nice and spicy; its mixed with multiple types of seasoning and vegetables, and it even has peanuts I think. You'd think putting nuts in soup is something only a psycho would do, but oddly enough, it's one of the most satisfying and different tastes I've ever experienced. Lastly, the portion size is amazing too. They really give you two meals-worth in one bowl. So the price is extremely good for the amount and quality. If this place existed in San Francisco, the prices would easily be double. But they keep the price reasonable because they know their customers are college kids. Please don't take this spot for granted, and try it for yourself. 10/10 food. The atmosphere and service are average, but thats irrelevant to how amazing the food quality is. I will definitely come back here with my friends and family.

bustling full of people, ok portions for the price and great taste.
edit: i used to love coming here but the last three times i went i found that my daikon radish was not fresh, it was mushy, brown, and even not chopped fully, leaving some pieces awkwardly connected to each other. The food is still worth it but i am sadden by the drop in quality

Second edit: you can get twice the amount of meat for a little cheaper at the new Chinese noodle restaurant Impression of LanZhou.

Very nice. The line outside is the clearest indicator that people want to go here and not somewhere else nearby.

It's the only, therefore, the best Chinese restaurant like this in the area. However, it is not the most authentic and the broth tastes very sweet and not fresh/authentic. It's generally okay, but don't be super excited about the restaurant. Getting take out is probably easier so you can skip the dine in lines. Medium recommendation only.
