“Wow! That should encapsulate everything I'm about to say. To start things off to a strong warm welcoming for me, duck as a protein is a sign that this place was meant to be. The duck tacos with guacamole and pomegranate seeds were a nice end to my day. I confess I'm now using pomegranate when I roast a duck! At Fonda, the meat is tender, juicy, and so flavorful. An unexpected treat! The fried plantains are delightful and they're paired with black beans, cream, and salsa molcajete. If you're not a fan of overtly spicy things, like me, get the salsa on the side as I will in the future but regardless, all things were tasty! The drinks are well made and thoughtful. It didn't feel like I was just ordering from a generic drink menu. The Fonda drink was delightful. Overall I suggest this place for lovers of Latin food. On my try list: mushroom empanadas, tuna tartare, and fish tacos. I believe I shall pair it with an Idle Hands cocktail! Great job to the chefs and staff at Fonda!“
“This is one beautiful place with colors, art and i think largest mural i have seen in sf, showcasing culture, i loved the vibe, food was tasty specially patatas bravas, short ribs, gambas, flatbread and drinks were just wow! very creative and tasty cocktails. great space for special occasions and groups.“
“Nice small tapas place owned by a couple of guys from Madrid in the Mission. +++ great location +++ lots of tapas to pick from +++ fast friendly service +++ nice owners and wait staff ++++ convenient and easy street parking +++ Blue Cheese Croquetas was awesome. +++The tinned Mussells were delicious. +++ Very tasty burnt cheesecake +/- Chicken skewers - chicken was very tender but lackluster on flavor. - stuffed pepper with salt cod way too salty for me. I'd go back and already sent several friend to check it out...“
“My and my family were only in S.F. for the week. But Coqueta was by far the best dining experience we had while there. I have been to California a couple of times, and it's this was one of the most memorable restaurant experiences yet. It's the level of customer service that puts this restaurant above the rest. Alma, the manager, really made sure all the issues that Nicholas told her about our table were resolved immediately. They even gave us some additional treats on the house as an apology for if im being honest issues that weren't that serious. But none the less our aunt who lives in S.F. swears by Coqueta, and I now know why. Thanks for the great memories, Coqueta!“
“Came for SF restaurant week! Started with house vermut, and it was satisfying. Hint of being back in Spain! Serrano - okay, enjoyed the pan con tomate, wanted more. Manchego- comes with 2 carb types, both tasty! Bombas de arroz - fun fritters! Enjoyed this. Croquettes - small, unexpected sweetness! Gambas - poached prawns in garlic chili and crispy bread! Carrilladas - braised pork cheeks, soft and savory! Over a tasty bed of potatoes, peas, and carrots! Crema catalana- the cream brûlée, doesn't required the spoon to crack the sugar topping.“
“Excellent Peruvian food with quality fresh ingredients. The presentation of each dish is a delight. Service is wonderful and it's always a treat to see Kevin and Carlos & crew. They are passionate about their food and take such pride in creating a top dining experience for their guests. A hidden gem in Rockridge. It's always a treat to dine at Pucquio.“
“Overall a really nice, cozy, but dimly lit neighborhood restaurant. With uniquely organized small plate meals. They've stood the test of time. There is a lot of variation on seating; from a community table, to small 2 and 4 tops in the 2 window front, to a patio and then to a front covid style patio on the street front. Why a 4? Possibly the dim lighting, combined with the excess noise inside.“
“Great food and ambiance. I would definitely return! Not really the fault of the restaurant but was very busy during our reservation time (around noon) and very loud. It was difficult to hear members or our group and have any sort of conversation. Eventually - as diners left, the noise level was reduced. If you have the option of sitting outside, I recommend doing so as the noise level was significantly less on the small patio.“
“Service was really great! Everyone was friendly and food and drinks came out quickly. Server was circling around the whole time, so we didn’t have to wait ever.Steak dish was good, especially the mashed potatoes. We also liked the hummus, croquettas, and the salad.Cute spot, cold inside though.“
“Really enjoyed the format and flavors. The space is nice and the staff are helpful if they know you have a show- they asked proactively. The pricing hurt a little but overall would come back! Bonus for a tapas place with a good amount of veg friendly choices!“
“This is hands down the best Mexican restaurant my wife and I have been to, we stumbled upon this place for our 2 year anniversary and the tacos, and cocktails were so delicious. It has become our anniversary outing spot! Will be coming back here for them tacos!“
“Came in before a show at the playhouse a block away. We ordered 4 tapas small plates and enjoyed the dates, lamb and brussel sprouts. The octopus was dramatic but not our favorite. Presentation for each dish was sophisticated and taste was good.“
“Regularly used to order their to-go paella for treats during the grim pandemic days. Now they are back to normal service the food has got even better. Particular;y loved the crab balls in inky aioli. The wines by the glass, tho not cheap, are lovely. We ordered 5 starters/tapas which was plenty for 2 people and very good value. Will go again soon. Thank you!“
