Malatang is basically hotpot but you can pick the items you want and they cook it for you. Price is based on weight, they also have a sauce bar. Highly recommend if you want hotpot without the smell

Good food but $70 bucks for two bowls of soup is ridiculous. My guess is the majority of their customer base.Is students going to Berkeley. So now , when the parents are spending two hundred grand a year for their kids' education , they should be aware that a hundred grand of it went to soup.

I’ve come here three times this past summer, they have a wide variety of vegetables and meat options, and so many meats that I used eat as a kid.

Before I even finished my meal, the staff brought me the bill and seemed to rush me out. It’s a self-service restaurant, but if you don’t give a tip, the staff shows clear signs of being displeased. The tables are also placed too close to each other, making it uncomfortable and noisy.

One of my favorite restaurants around campus. Price is by weight so whatever you do, do *NOT* get the corn. Yummy food, good sauce selection, good value. As a not-so-big eater, I'm often able to have a really good lunch for well under $15, but YMMV.

One of my favorite food places in berkeley. Lots of vegan options, super tasty, and worth your money

I love that i can take out the soup and reheat it after with my own toppings

Only downside is you have to wait a while, but it’s worth the wait

Saw this as I was walking around looking for restaurant. Popped in and it did not disappoint! The flavor was great and personally I especially liked the grab-what-you-want style so that I can sample many items that I always want to just try a bit but never want to order the full dish.

The staff spoke rudely about me in Cantonese, assuming I didn't know the language. This was completely unprofessional and disrespectful. I won't be coming back.

Had a group meal yesterday at the place. During check out, a guy wearing a black cap with a fake silver neck chain is demanding for a tip because I had skipped the tip selection. When I asked why he said that he gave me water and napkins and the service isn't free.

Why should you tip at a self serve hot pot joint?

I have filed a Better Business Bureau report and I welcome anyone to join me in exposing this entitled restaurant. I have recorded everything and will file a strong reporter.

Will never come back to this restaurant again.
