The chorizo omelette was yummy. This was a really nice stop, cozy inside on a cool day, and the staff has a nice vibe.

A cozy Big Sur gem that feels like stepping back in time. Ripplewood Cottages, with its charming grocery and rustic restaurant, is the perfect stop for anyone traveling along Highway 1. The food is hearty and homemade — the kind that tastes even better after a morning of exploring redwoods or coastal trails. The little grocery is well-stocked with essentials and local favorites, and the setting under towering redwoods adds to the peaceful, nostalgic atmosphere. Whether you’re staying in one of the classic cabins or just stopping for a meal, Ripplewood captures the simple, authentic spirit of Big Sur living.

Quaint and beautiful, if you don’t want to overpay for the rest of the restaurants around the area, this is your best bet. The breakfast was delicious and fresh, the service was fast and super friendly. Our waitress, a very kind and hospitable older woman, embodied the vibe of the place: Welcoming, friendly, and a joy to talk to. This is the place to go for your meal!

Popped into this place by chance when hiking in the Big Sur area and it was such a fun place with really delicious food. A vegetarian, I got the huevos rancheros and a veggie sandwich and both were delightful. The staff was friendly and the space had indoor and outdoor seating that was very cozy. Absolutely recommend

If you are tired of the Big Sur focused on overly expensive brunches trying to re-invent the concept, this place is your answer!
A traditional breakfast/lunch venue with good portions and the standard options with the expected California twist of Mexico if you want.
Potato gratin as a side, pancakes with or without nuts, omelettes, breakfast burritos, and huevos rancheros... All great, and recommended.

Driving on Highway 1 near Big Sur we spotted the Ripplewood Resort and Restaurant and decided to stop and give them a try for lunch. They have indoor and outdoor seating on a nice patio with tables and umbrellas. The staff was excellent and the food delicious. There is also a small grocery and gas station. If you are in the area, this is a highly recommended stop.
We were lucky to have come upon this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We sat outside and the areas inside and out were immaculately clean. Ordered the Turkey club and soup and it did not disappoint. The food was served quickly once ordered. Soup of the day was carrot and I will spend all winter trying to recreate it. It was fantastic.
The restaurant is open from fairly early morning until 2. We went for breakfast several times. The menu is fairly typical but the preparations are quite well done, a big step up from what I'd anticipated. The interior is attractive and there's plentiful light. But what really makes it enjoyable is Juan. He's been there "forever," according to him. It shows in his expertise but not his attitude. Friendly, helpful, anticipatory. He's everything anyone could want in a server.
We didn't stay at the resort. We only stopped for lunch on our return to Carmel from Pffeifer State Park. Upon arrival, we were offered tables out on their large patio. Due to the number of people we had, we separated into two tables, but this wasn't a problem. I ordered enchiladas, which were ok. However, my son ordered a tuna salad sandwich with a side salad that was excellent. Their homemade vinaigrette was delicious. My mom ordered the chef's salad which she enjoyed as well. It was obvious that they cleaned their lettuce and everything was made to order. Often times with salad, it's obvious it's bagged salad tossed onto a plate. It was a great meal for us.
